Curtis was given approximately 6 months to live , both tumours are inoperable and attempting to remove them would paralyse Curtis or even kill him .
Due to the stress of this and the side effects of the tumours pressing on his brain, Curtis was sectioned under the mental health act and commited to a mental health hospital, he was described by doctors as a unique case.
At times While being placed in a mental care hospital Curtis gave up all hope of being able to return home , or see his children and have some kind of normal life with the time he has remaining.
On the 11th of August , Curtis was admitted to the Leicester Royal infirmary after showing signs of infection , scans later revealed that the front tumour had grown, and we were told Curtis would have 24 maybe 48 hours to live as his heart would stop, and we were advised to put a “do not resuscitate” as bringing him back would only worsen his condition. But after being given high doses of steroids they managed to get the swelling on his tumours down and stabilised his condition.
On the 16th of August after a long battle with the authorities ,and the right balance of medication Curtis was finally discharged from being sectioned and we managed to get Curtis home.
Unfortunately a few days after returning home Curtis’s health has started to deteriorated severely making any kind of normal life impossible.
Curtis was a fun loving active guy with an incredible sense of humour and this aggressive disease has stripped his life away in a matter of months.
Curtis’s last wishes are to remain at home during the final stages of his life .
Our battle at the moment is to keep Curtis safe as due to his diagnosis and the effects of the tumours, as they have grown have made Curtis unaware of the dangers around him , he also suffers with memory loss, constant anxiety, and physical exhaustion.
Our family consisting of myself and his 74 year old father and stepmum give him as much care as possible, but we can’t provide all the nessessary care that he needs .
Social services will not provide the extra care that he needs due to their funding system and only provide a small amount of help each day leaving Curtis vulnerable, and their only answer is to put him into a care home.
Realistically Curtis needs 24 hour supervision to remain at home , I want to respect his last wishes as he fought so hard for months to return home ,
so I am asking if anybody could please help by donating to this fundraiser no matter how small, so we can support curtis with the extra care to keep him safe at home during his final days battling this aggressive disease.
All money raised will all go to providing the extra help needed to keep Curtis at home during his remaining days... and to help pay towards the things curtis would like to do to make some memories with his children before he leaves us...
In the worst case circumstances, all money raised will go to his children.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and thank you for your support
