Please help save Dannielle's home!

I am writing on behalf of a special young woman and her family that is in need of your help. Her name is Dannielle. She is 28 years old. She suffered from Viral Meningitis at seven days of age. The severity of the illness and the complications have been extreme, many months were spent in the hospital with her fighting for her life. The end result was extensive brain damage, Cerebral Palsy with spastic quadriparesis, severe seizure disorder, gastrostomy feeding tube, incontinence, cortical blindness, spastic rigidity and sadly the list goes on. She lives in the care of her father who has taken care of her since birth. Her mother is deceased.
Dannielle’s dad is a carpenter and runs a small business. Four years ago Dannielle and her father found themselves in a precarious situation. The results of the fall of the housing and construction industry, the breaking up of a 17 year marriage and the loss of a handicapped modified home and his workshop left them with no where to go. The eviction date was April 29th, 2013. There was no solution in sight…. Then , some dear friends decided to invest their retirement money to help this family out. They put up the funds to purchase the land and finance the material outlay of Mark ( the dad ) to build a home for the family. Because of their generosity the design of the home could be built around the specific needs of Dannielle and provide a home for her and two of her younger siblings in a location only ½ mile from the previous home that was lost. That project was proposed on January 16th, 2013. Nothing fancy to some but a God send to the family. It has met very specific needs.
The hopeful agreement for the home was that it be rented to the family for a period of 2-3 years with the intent of being purchased and the investment funds recouped. This period of time was set so Mark could re-establish his life and have time to put things together.
On June 4th, 2015, Mark was stopped in rush hour traffic when an individual doing over 50 miles an hour sideswiped another vehicle and ran directly into the rear of his vehicle. He suffered permanent neck, spine and shoulder injuries and has had one shoulder surgery to this date. The driver left the vehicle he was driving as well as the scene of the accident. The matter is still unsettled.
Because of the accident, the owners graciously gave Mark an additional year to try and get things together. That time, sadly , is coming to an end.

Mark holds 2 jobs as a care provider (pca) for Dannielle. This is possible due to her being an adult and he being her guardian. There is additional help as far as some specialized nursing care and another pca ( personal care attendant) that helps, so Mark can continue supplementing income as a carpenter and still be a dad to his other children.

Mark has researched and tried every option to find a way to purchase the home. What is needed is to bring the purchase price down low enough for him to maintain the property.

This is more than just a family home. It was specifically designed and built to maintain the proper assisted living space for Dannielle. It has a specially adapted bathroom that accommodates for the lifting system needed to bathe . The whirlpool tub system is special to allow for a large bath chair and also provides the room needed for water Range of Motion therapy which Dannielle requires for her spasticity. Her bedroom has been designed for all her medical equipment. The doors and hallways are oversized to allow wheelchair passage. The exterior ramp system was built for easy access to the modified van. The location of the home is centrally located to all the medical providers she needs. The financial assistance she does get is through the county they now reside.

To lose this home would require trying to find a place that is either handicapped modified already or that the owner (if a rental) or another property would allow to be modified. The waiting list for any specialized housing is long. A handicapped apartment would not have the needed specialties nor the ability to be altered. Any residence outside the county would require re- submitting for her assistance and may result in loss of some services. ( this has happened in the past.) Because of the situation and the time involved there is no guarantee adequate housing could be found or even modified in time. That would leave the decision to put Dannille in a respite facility and possibly a state run facility. This is just a touch of the importance of trying to keep this home.

The kindness, compassion, love and generosity of the family that initially funded the home was amazing and beyond any thanks that could be given. They exceeded the terms of the agreement and have been nothing less than wonderful. This is their retirement fund that was used so it is important and understandable that they need to get it back. If Mark cannot find a way to retain the home it will be put up for sale.

Any and all funds will be put towards this project. If this home cannot be retained then the funds will go to providing a home and the modifications needed to keep Dannielle home with her family. Thank you all for your help and especially your prayers.
