On August 8th, a couple’s dreams were shattered by a severe thunderstorm that came through the Dallas/High Shoals area and caused a massive tree to uproot and come crashing through their home, trapping their granddaughter inside and destroying their home. Their granddaughter, Sydney, was miraculously unharmed due to the grace of God and the skill and determination of the firefighters and medical personnel responding to the disaster. She was pinned on the couch underneath the tree for almost an hour and a half until first responders could cut some of the tree away and brace up what was left of the house so they could get her out.
Danny Cloninger and his long-term girlfriend, Laura Watson, moved an old house onto their property a few years back and have been renovating it ever since so they could move out of their trailer and into their dream home. Ever since they started this project, they have been sinking every penny they made into fixing up the house. They almost had it completely remodeled and were getting ready to finish moving into it when the storm destroyed everything. They did not yet have insurance on the house, which is why this is so hard on them. My uncle Danny is one of the kindest, most generous men I have ever known. He would give the shirt off his back to a stranger, and he has helped me and the rest of our family so much through the years. Laura is pretty much an aunt to me; she and Danny have been together for as long as I can remember, and she is one of the most loving, strongest people I know. To make matters worse, Danny is disabled with a prosthetic leg and requires lengthy dialysis treatments several times a week. The least I can do is try to give them some peace of mind in knowing that the community and the rest of their family and friends are here to help them through these hard times. Please help this family put their home and their lives back together. We would like to help them cover the cost of temporary housing, replacing their belongings, and to be able to start rebuilding their home, along with any other expenses they may come across. If you are unable to donate, please pray for them and share this page so that others may see it. Thank you!
