HELP THIS SWEET BOY WITH CEREBRAL PALSY WALK!!

Meet Boki (Bozidar) a 2.5-year-old superhero!

I am starting this fundraiser to help a family friend, a single mother, in her superhuman efforts to help her son have a normal life and thrive. Your donations could make a huge difference in the life of this sweet little boy and his family. Please help as much as you can so Boki can live a good life. Thank you.

Boki lives with his single mother Borica and his 11-year-old brother Dusan in a small town in Bosnia, the country devastated by civil war.

He was born prematurely and on the third day of his life his lungs and heart collapsed and he had a brain hemorrhage.  A fight to keep baby Boki alive lasted almost two weeks. The prognosis was very grim, only 5% chance that he will survive and that he probably would be in a vegetative state. But the little fighter beat all the odds. Not only he is one in a million who would survive but after the two months spent in the hospital, our little superhero gained enough weight to be released from the hospital.

Unfortunately, little Boki was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a condition that affects the movement, muscle tone, or posture of an individual caused by substantial damage to the developing brain.

At 20 months he was not able to sit or crawl, while the other children his age were playing, running, and climbing. Thanks to Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, the surgery that he has undergone in St Louise hospital in Istanbul, and the therapies he started receiving, Boki is now able to sit up, crawl awkwardly and pull himself up to a high squatting position for 4-5 seconds…an enormous achievement for him.

Fortunately, the symptoms of cerebral palsy do not worsen with age, but muscle shortening and rigidity can worsen if not promptly treated. The next three years are crucial for his body development and he needs as much help as possible.

His mother works and exercises with him tirelessly for five hours each day, but that is not enough. To enhance his functional abilities, Boki needs to do extensive therapy in Novi Sad, Serbia, five times a year for three weeks at the time.

Boki’s mom is struggling to pay for the therapy and travel expenses of €4500/year with her €6000 yearly salary of a math teacher. His progress would be significantly improved if she could rent a special massage apparatus that costs €5000/year, almost her yearly salary.

With the right support, treatment, and care, many patients with cerebral palsy, can go on and live fulfilling and loving lives.

Please help. Thank you.
