A man named Arvydas Puidokas, a young and handsome guy of 30 years old, with a compassionate heart and joy of living an American Dream suddenly fell victim to an extremely rare immune system disease called Scleroderma. With a beautiful and caring wife, Svetlana, by his side he took the fight full on. Even with a two year old daughter to take care of and a trucking business to run he put all his effort and energy to provide for his family while fighting this extremelly rare disease. In the beggining the fight seemed winable and with a second daughter on the way the hope of living a happily ever after seemed attainable.
It is only when we are reminded that it could be worse that we start appreciating what we have. Well Arvydas has been fighting this painful and excruciating disease for 12 years and when you look at the before and after pictures you would never believe that the man that used to be a vibrant loving father, husband, brother, and a dear friend has been reduced to a body that is taking all those things away.
After numerous treatmens including stem cell transplants and an unbelievable amount of medications for 12 years Arvydas is back in the hospital again with his body failing and his two beautiful daughters by his side and a wife that has always stayed true to his generous heart that was always open to family, friends, and strangers alike.
The recent pictures of him in the hospital are hard to stomach and I am sorry if it is too much for some but most times pictures are worth a thousand words and they needed to be shared.
The main reason why they need to be shared is you see this man who is bed ridden with no hand or finger movement(since they are not there anymore) who cannot even sit up and you cannot help but feel bad for him and his family. But this man is one of the most honest and generous people you would ever meet in your life. Even as he lay there with no chance of ever walking again or even lifting his head of the pillow he tried to help others wether it was sending a care package, no matter how small, to someone in need or taking in a family member into his home who had no place to stay.
That is why he is a man I strive to be like everyday, and even though I see him every week he has never once asked for anything. This is a man who has the world's most painful and hurtful hell on Earth thrown at him but has never given up and stayed the most loving and caring person.....he is the kind of man that would help you if it was his last day on earth and say a nice word if it was his last breath.
So please, If you can, donate or say a prayer to help his wife and his two young daugthers and keep in your hearts a man who never asked the world for anything but was thrown everything.
