Pie-A-Month for Emelyse

I only know 3-year old Emelyse and her parents, Valkyrie and Mitch, through the diner, but they embody the exact reason I wanted to open Ladybird at all. I wanted a place where people could bring their families, to be surrounded by bright colors and playful decor, with a great soundtrack and scratch home-cooking that warmed their tummies and souls.
Emelyse is sick. Her parents need help. They’ve been at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City for over 2 weeks, the most recent of many hospital stays in Emelyse’s short lifetime. Emelyse is not getting better. Valkyrie and Mitch have been transitioned to a Hospice Care Team, but they’re not ready to give up. They want to move Emelyse to a state where cannabis oil is available in a last ditch effort to improve her condition.
If they won’t stop fighting, neither will we.
