Pickles' Fundraiser for Arthur's Acres!

Pickles is in the giving spirit this holiday season and we’d like to help our new friend Todd. Although we’ve never met in person, we think he is a truly incredible and special person. Todd recently quit his job and sold everything to start his very own PIG sanctuary, called Arthur’s Acres. That’s right….a sanctuary specifically for pigs!
We contacted Todd after hearing about his most recent rescue case. He rescued four pig siblings that were found in the middle of the woods trapped in feces up to their necks. The poor pigs were literally piled on top of each other to keep from drowning. The owner of the property claimed that he was paying someone to go and check in on the animals, but based on the conditions they were found in and by the conditions of their bodies, that was obviously not true. The poor babies had no fresh food or water, and they were trapped in this terrible disgusting stall.
As you can see in the photos, the pigs were completely emaciated. Their spines were popping out and they were so weak, they could barely stand. It is a miracle they were rescued alive and then found their way to Arthur's Acres.
Todd has done an incredible job nursing these babies back to health. Thanks to him, they look like totally different pigs now!
Unfortunately one of the girls, Katniss, developed a high fever and then spontaneously collapsed right in front of Todd’s eyes. He got her safely into a trailer and then rushed her to Cornell to undergo treatment. Katniss is now eating and drinking fine and both her blood work and ultrasounds have come back normal. They are consulting with specialist now to see if they can determine what the underlying issue is. Katniss has been a fighter her whole life and since she’s made it this far, we think she can continue to fight through whatever this may be. Hearing Todd talk about what a wonderful pig she is brought me to tears. He loves her so much. I so badly want to see Katniss come home and live out the rest of her life at Arthur's Acres.
Pickles and I want to help with Katniss’s medical bills at Cornell. Arthur’s Acres is also trying to get the other three pigs to a healthy enough weight where they can be transported to Cornell to be spayed. When they return, it will be a long process of rehabilitation for these four piggies…both physical and mental.
