Almost every Christian Seminary and university in English parts of the world have departments which are dedicated to Christian Apologetics and Philosophy. On top of that, there are innumerable online apologetics and philosophy training centers offering courses and resources for English Christians. In French parts of the world, however, such as Québec, France, Haiti, Switzerland, and certain parts of Africa, where only small pockets of the population would even consider themselves Christians, not only are there very few Christian institutions for post-secondary education, and an astonishingly small amount of French resources for Evangelical churches, there is not one single department or training center dedicated to teaching Christian apologetics and philosophy. Indeed, many evangelical christians in French parts of the world have never even heard of Christian apologetics. Imagine, some of the most secularized parts of the world, are also those places with the least amount of Christian apologetics and philosophy resources.
In 2012 I founded a society of Christian Evangelical French Scholars, who, understanding the cultural and social realities of the Francophone world, and having the ability to defend the gospel in the French Language, would work together to create resources for evangelical Christians. When I founded this society, Association Axiome, there were only 6 members. Now there are more than 20 members. We have, since 2012, organized 3 major christian apologetics conferences, in the French language, and put over 40 apologetics and philosophy videos online.
The next step in providing solid philosophy and apologetics resources for french evangelical protestants is the founding of an online training center: Centre de Philosophie et Apologétique Chrétienne (The Christian Philosophy and Apologetics Center). The purpose of this center is to provide bachelor-level courses on Christian theology, apologetics and philosophy,
in the French language, which will help pastors and lay-men alike to better articulate and defend the historic christian faith. Each course will provide the student with the possibility of interacting with the professor, and a certain amount of required reading, recommended reading, and course work. All professors will be qualified and trained philosophers, theologians, and Apologists.
In order to get started we need to register as a non-for-profit educational organisation, set up a professional website, begin a marketing campaign in churches and online, record and upload a certain amount of professionally filmed courses with qualified professors, and so on. This initial campaign for funds is to get the project started. Lord-willing, we would like to see the project go live as early as the 1st of January, 2018.
The center will be the first of its kind, an online center dedicated to teaching Classical Christian Apologetics and philosophy, in the Francophone world. Are you willing to join with me in starting the first ever French Academy of Christian philosophy and Apologetics?
