Philip Bernstein Memorial Technology Scholarship
Donation protected
On July 24, 2019, at only 24 years old, Philip John Bernstein passed away. He was an entirely self-taught (and amazing!) software application developer who loved technology in all forms. He also spoke often about how he wanted to help more women and minorities break into the field.
We (I am Philip's father) are raising money for a scholarship to be named in Philip's honor for students at Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington (from which Philip graduated), to help them develop the love and talent for software development that he had.
All funds raised in this campaign will be spent on providing scholarships to women and minorities who can demonstrate a financial need directly related to an interest, education, or work in the field of software development. Each year, Schreiber High School conducts a Senior Awards Night and it is in conjunction with that ceremony that scholarships (in the range of $500 to $1500) will be handed out each year as long as there is money in the fund. The monies donated will be invested conservatively in an effort to grow the fund to be able to continue providing scholarships for as long as possible.
