Rescate Animal Cuenca 2018
Rescate Animal Cuenca is an animal rescue group working to save the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals in Cuenca, Ecuador. We rescue, nurse back to health, vaccinate, de-worm, de-flea, and sterilize our rescues before placing them up for adoption.
We are raising funds for 2016. Since we always struggle to pay our veterinarian bills we are asking all of our Rescate Animal Cuenca Facebook friends who are not already signed up to provide monthly donations to please donate $5 for 2016. If all of our friends can make this donation, the equivalent to 2 almuerzos in 1 year, we can continue to fight for these animals who can not fight for themselves.
We have no shelter, working solely through foster homes, so all money goes to help the animals. We have no administrative fees to cover as we are all volunteers and take no form of compensation at all.
This will enable us to continue to rescue street dogs and cats and educate the public about proper care of animals.
We need funds urgently as we have exceeded the credit limits with the veterinarians that help us, which means we are unable to acquire any further vet care unless we pay cash up front until we can pay off our account balances.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND GENEROSITY!
I am happy to report that Disco was adopted last Sunday! He and his new mom are getting along great!
Thanks for helping RESCATE ANIMAL CUENCA give Disco a second chance for a great life!!!!
Disco is doing great! He just spent a week at another foster home where he was socialized with 4 cats and a toddler. This big guy loves everyone he encounters!
His wound is totally closed as you can see in the pics. So, today he was sterilized. He will be available for adoption at the RESCATE ANIMAL CUENCA adoption event on Sunday. He will make a lovely addition to any family as he is a fast learner, eager to please and has nothing but love to share.
Thanks so much to everyone who donated, shared, cared and prayed to help Disco recover so quickly! Your donations will also help other dogs rescued by RESCATE ANIMAL CUENCA.
Hello friends! Disco is doing amazingly well!! All of your thoughts and prayers are working!!!! He has gained about 3 kg or 6.5 pounds in 1 week! He is getting 5 cups of puppy kibble and 5 cups of cooked chicken, hearts, livers, red beets and beet greens (beets and beet greens are excellent for anemia and inflammation) throughout each day along with powdered puppy milk and multivitamins.
The wound looks so much better as you can see by the attached pic!!! The vet cleans it once per day. I clean it twice per day. I apply several drops of Colloidal Silver to the sterile gauze covering the wound after I clean it. If you are not familiar with CS, please look into it. It is amazing for wound care and many other things for humans and animals.
Sunday (weather permitting) Disco will go to the RESCATE ANIMAL ADOPTION event for a little while, so his local well wishers can visit him :-)
Disco and the RESCATE ANIMAL CUENCA team thank you so much for all of the support! You all are truly amazing!!! Thanks you for being part of this sweet boy's salvation!!!!!
I have good news! Disco is doing well! Here are a couple pics from this afternoon. He enjoyed the home-cooked chicken and broth lovingly made by Jennifer Warr. He also remembered Jennifer from yesterday! She and her husband Knowlton stayed with him in the car while I spoke with the veterinarian before bringing him inside. Once Jennifer started to pet him, he wagged his tail and looked her in the eyes communicating to her he was not ready to give up his fight and leave this world despite all of the abuse he has suffered. He believed he could make it.
He was right! Great progress today! He had his wound cleaned again this morning and had enough energy to protest, so he got a little sedation. This afternoon he was trying to stand up in his crate!
This is all great news! Having the energy to do these things in his condition is amazing! This boy should weigh around 50 pounds. He doesn't even weigh 30 pounds!!! He is skin and bones with sever anemia and head trauma, but he is not letting that discourage him!
We will see what tomorrow brings. It looks like he may be able to come home with me to have more comfortable accommodations and just have to return to the clinic for daily check ups.
Thank you so much for all of the thoughts, prayers, shares and donations!!! The animals do not have the words to express their gratitude for all of these things, but believe me, they truly do appreciate the loving care!!! As for all of the RESCATE ANIMAL CUENCA volunteers, your thoughts, prayers, shares and donations keep us going through the worst of days. THANKS AGAIN!!!!
Hi, Lori! They think the hole will close on its own, which it appears to be doing much faster than expected. Hope this isn't too graphic, but the vet removed over 100 maggots on the first day alone. So gross!!! But, since maggots only eat dead flesh, they actually helped clean the wound, so he won't need surgery. The veterinarians think he is about 1.5 years old.
