Wheels wheels!! We need help with our Wheels!
Thanks for joining us. We are the Pfohl family! Mindy (mom) and Abby, Joey, and JJ battle mitochondrial disease. Mito what? Mitochondria are in all of our sells. They make up 90% of the life sustaining energy that you and I need to function. Our Mitochondria are sick leading to depletion of energy and all kinds of health needs! We battle seizures, digestive issues requiring special diets and feeding tubes, lung disease requiring all kinds of equipment, pain, fatigue, and so much more.
So, why do we need wheels? A year and a half ago, we did fundraising and raised enough to buy a wheel chair accessible van BUT we only raised enough for a year and a half worth of payments. The kids use wheel chairs for energy when we go places that require a lot of standing and walking, and now, Mom (Mindy) also needs assistance. Walking not only causes energy to be even lower, but it often leads to pain and struggles with all the other health areas. So, it's vital to keep this van and be able to take these chairs with us!
Why can't we pay for this ourselves? It is an immense burden on our finances! As Mindy's health continues to struggle and the kids as well, Jeff has to be home more. He does all the driving to appointments, takes care of us consistently and so he can only work so much. When you have medical expenses, travel to hospitals, over night stays, meals away from home... Cost begins to add up.
This van has been life changing for us. It's allowed us to be more involved with life, get to go more places together as a family and to continue that "freedom", we need help. Help to pay this off and to lift the burden of this cost so we can continue to focus on the medical care of our lives.
