2017 has been a devastating year for Peru. Recent heavy rains have caused severe disasters in many parts of the country.

According to official Peruvian sources (INDECI), there are more than 900,000 people affected and more than 150,000 victims , in addition to the 106 deaths caused by the El Niño phenomenon throughout Peru. Thousands of homes have been destroyed, hundreds of bridges have collapsed as well as thousands of kilometers of roads and more than 28,000 hectares of crops have been lost.

PIURA, ONE OF THE MOST AFFECTED REGIONS

On March 27, the city of Piura, 981 km north of Lima, flooded by the overflow of the Piura River, which reached 3,000 cubic meters per second, the highest in the last 30 years. The results were devastating, surpassing almost a meter high in downtown Piura, destroying thousands of hectares of crop, bridges and roads and leaving hundreds of thousands of victims, not only in the city but in rural areas also.

PIURA EN ACCION

In the wake of recent events and natural disasters, Piura en Acción, a non profit association created in 1983 due to El Niño´s devastating effects in the region that year, has activated a Special Emergency Committee and in collaboration with the administrative and logistics platform of Fundación Romero (Romero Group/Peru) has been continuously sending aid to the Piura region in coordination with various public and private entities for storage, classification, transportation, and distribution of food and other donations.

With your contribution, Piura en Acción will be able to fulfill the needs as much as possible, from the private sector, in the difficult task of rebuilding and relocating houses in the area.

Hi friends, this might be a bit of a stretch although I thought you could help me, help others. Like Somalia Peru has been enduring difficult times right now. Due to Huaycos many have lost their homes and have to endure starvation. In addition to many kids being left without parents. An aunt of mine has now been housing 5 orphaned children and there are much more out there. Supermarkets have raised prices leaving the rich to survive and poor to die. Having come from a poor background I understand what it's like to live in Peru poor. Which pours my heart out to those kids and want to make a difference. Even though this is my first time opening a GoFundMe page, Peru Needs Us! by Roxana Peru that shows more info. I want to gain as much money as possible to help those because I will travel to Peru by the end of April. I also opened a Fb page which I will document how the money is spent. Such as blankets, clothing, water ect. Anyway, I hope you read this and have a good day!
