Penchance The Movie

I spent most of my life around community theater. My father, Fred, during our summers together would drag me along to his many theater rehearsals and performances and that's where I found my passion. The stage was a place for the uniquely creative performers.
It was a magical way to tell stories and entertain people.

My first film opportunity came in the form of a casting call for the movie, "Primal Fear." I had no idea what to exxpect. I thought, "I can act on stage. Why would film be any different?" My audition lasted 5 minutes, which in audition time, that's a success. But being as green behind teh ears as I was, I didn't know that  I retreated back into my comfort zone with theater until returning from college and moving back to Sacramento where I was cast as an extra in the film, "Dead Man on Campus." It was a great experience and my only regret was when I was asked to come back to set the next day, I had to decline. Again, I went back to theater. I wrote a few plays.

Two years ago, I met the director, Laura Chick, during a play I wrote. She invited me to work on the set of "Mamaboy" that was filmed in the Cameron Park area. From there I starred in a few other independent short films and decided I really wanted to write. And so, here I am.

I wrote Penchance originally based upon a joke I heard from Billy Crystal. As the story morphed, it became clear there's a bettter story to tell.

Penchance is an independent short film about a chance meeting in a cemetery, between an unlikely pair - a young black man with a stutter and an old Jewish cynic that blossoms into a friendship where each discovers the meaning of hope, faith and love proving the pen is mightier than the sword.

This winning script was chosen for the Access Sacrameot Place Called Sacramento 2017 Film Festival and will premier October 7, 2017.

This journey touches on racism, traditinoalism and faith, and finding commonnality between complete oppsites.

The cast and crew have all agreed to work on a volunteer basis but we have production costs for permits, wardrobe, insurance, hair and makeup, etc. and are seeking sponsors to help cover these costs. Our goal is to broduce a director's cut that can show at several film festivals across the country. We are already submitting to 3 Northern California festivals.

We have different levels of sponsorship. Of course. no amount is too small. But for the $100 level, you will receive 2 tickets to the premiere, October 7th  and a signed copy of the script.*

A $300 donation will receive 4 tickets, a signed script, behind the scenes DVD and red carpet photos with the cast and writer of the film.

A $1000 level will receive 10 tickets, credit acknowledgement, a behind the scenes DVD and red carpet photos, plus the opportunity to be an exrra in the film. Filming will take place in June 2017. We have 4-5 shoot dates that will require extras. This film will give you IMdb (internet movie database) recognition as well.

This film is going to be a beautiful piece of art. filmed by an Emmy award winning cinematographer and directed by Laura Chick from Chickflick Productions.

The more money we can raise, the more film festivals we can submit this film to. We would love for you to  be a part of this collaborative film.
