Peckham to Paris by Bike!

James Curtis (Jagger’s Daddy) along with friends Adam, Spencer, Paul and James will be riding from Peckham to Paris this summer to raise funds for James's son Jagger who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Those that know James will be aware of his love of the sitcom Only Fools and Horses. It seems fitting that the ride starts in Peckham and finishes 3 days later near The Eiffel Tower in Paris. (Lovely Jubbly!)
The original plan was to ride to Paris on £25 bikes. This idea was shelved after Spencer managed to get hold of a couple of Raleigh Choppers for himself and James to ride. The Raleigh Chopper idea was met with ridicule and disbelief with most people believing this was not going to be possible, or at least in the 3 days the ride was planned to take. So after a serious debate with the other riders of the team, we have decided we are all going to ride Raleigh Choppers! All the guys riding will also be dressed as super heroes. James and Spencer will be Batman and Robin. The others have yet to decide. Plain clothes will not be an option!
All the bikes will be auctioned off at a charity evening event later this summer hopefully with a few famous signatures we have collected along the way!
The money raised is going towards providing an electric offroad wheelchair and a Hydrotherapy pool.
£4000 of the money raised will go towards the cost of an electric offroad wheelchair which will allow Jagger to keep on doing the things he loves doing such as taking walks across the New Forest with his family. The cost of the Hydrotherapy pool is approximately £7500 of which £1500 has already been raised (thank you Neil!) This will help Jagger's muscles by relieving the tension and tightness that builds up due to his condition.
There is no known cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. By making a donation we hope to raise enough money to enable Jagger to lead as normal life as possible given the degenerative nature of the disease. James will also be donating 25% of the amount raised to Muscular Dystrophy UK, whose research will one day hopefully lead to a cure. Please click the link below for details on the charity.
