Peanuts for Peanut

Kailynn is an incredible, outgoing little lady with an extremely contagious personality! She found out at a very young age that peanuts do not sit well with her. After her first interaction with food containing peanut, she experienced the inside of an ambulance and a sleepover at Children's Hospital.  She had an anaphylactic reaction and was struggling to breath within 10 minutes of consumption. It's heartbreaking as a parent to be constantly disappointing her with saying no while her peers are enjoying anything from a birthday cake to Chinese food. She is getting to the age now where she wants to have a friend over or spend time at a friends house. It is out of a parents control what is on someone else's counter.  There are too many stories of parents that manage what their child is exposed to for years and perfection only for it to be doomed by one visit to a friend, relative or event.  Death in 20 minutes. It could happen at age 2, 7, 15 or any age. As a parent, the goal is to give your child the best chance and experience at life. Our goal with gofundme is to put in place 1 more guard between happy/life and misreading a package/death. The treatment we are seeking is an oral desensitization therapy. The goal is to allow Kailynn to "accidentally" consume a cookie, cake, candy or some other random food containing peanut with a greater chance of survival. She will still need to carry her Epi's everywhere, but we are seeking better odds and a little more peace of mind. The therapy costs roughly $1000 for initial tests and treatment. Sometimes insurance pays for that portion. Each weekly visit will be $250 per visit for at least 8 months(not covered by insurance). In addition will be the follow up visits and the at home maintenance treatments. The potential of eliminating the heartbreak in her face when she can't have a treat with her friends or a future heartbreak of losing her to a mistaken cookie is too much to leave to luck. Please help us put in one more safeguard. She is currently on the waiting list for the treatment which could be 6 months to a year. Our goal is to raise the costs within 6 months so she can start treatment before she gets invited to too many more of her little buddies birthday parties!
