Peaches Cosmetic & Hair Line

Raised by 994 people in 2 months
Hello Everyone,

Some of you may know me as Peaches Monroee but my name is Kayla Newman. I'm 18 years old I live in Georgia. I moved here from the South Suburbs of Chicago. I am currently enrolled into college my major is nursing. Back in 2014 I came up with the phrase/word "Eyebrows on Fleek" on a 6 sec video on a app called VINE. Everyone has used the phrase/word but I haven't received any money behind it or recognition. So it brings me to say that I want to start a cosmetic and hair extension line; But I don't have any money to do so. Just so everyone can know my plans, with this money I plan on starting a website, get this project on legal papers with a good team of lawyers, etc and making sure my dreams come true as far as this "Fleek" thing. I feel like this is my second chance and I will not mess this is up. I know this is going to take hard work and dedication. But I do want to sell beautiful products to the beautiful people in this world. I know this can help me with my wishes/dreams. So if you can donate that would be lovely, any amount can help. Thank you!
Ps.. if you have any questions, references, etc please email me at peachesmonroee@icloud.com

I was going to respond to Kevin and his extra white bullshit instead, I will say that I hope you do well. You were a cultural influencer before and hopefully your line will do it again

People using your word doesnt entitle you to any money unfortunately. If there are any companies selling products with the phrase 'on fleek' (I've heard forever 21 might have shirts) you may be entitled to a portion of the profits from those items. It wouldnt likely be that much money, but may be worth it. Asking random people for money though because you came up with a word is very silly.

You're either going to support her or you're not, don't be rude and disrespectful either way. Damn Daniel and his crew got full rides to college and endorsements with Vans and other companies, and that disrespectful white girl is likely in her way to fame for God only knows what reason. Best wishes to you Peaches m, I keep everything On Fleek thanks to you!

People saying "should we pay other people like Cash Me Ousside girl, too?" are beyond ignorant. Do some research. She has made hundreds of thousands of dollars off of her bad attitude and ridiculous catch phrase. People of color have been historically uncompensated for their creativity and ingenuity despite their enormous influence on our culture, especially regarding digital media. On the other hand, white people have made hundreds of thousands of dollars for literally the same concepts. Appearances on Ellen and other TV shows, free college tuition, and wacky endorsement deals. If you've got nothing kind to say, say nothing at all. Kayla isn't "freeloading" - she's contributed to pop culture something that has been re-used and profited off of by artists, apparel brands, and countless others. Intellectual Property laws are sketchy in this area to say the least, but people with enough money can trademark and profit off of phrases, no matter how unoriginal they are (e.g. Paris Hilton trademarked the phrase "That's hot" even though it's without question that she was not the originator of the phrase). Kayla, I'm happy to help you pursue your dreams, even if I can't afford much. I hope it helps, and best of luck to you in your future endeavors. If you haven't already, I would speak with an intellectual property lawyer to see what your options are to receive portions of profits from any musicians, clothing brands, and television shows which have used the phrase you so cleverly coined.

@Dana "Extra white bullshit"? I love how you call someone racist while being racist yourself. There's nothing even remotely "white" about his post, whatever that's supposed to mean. But you saw his profile picture and knew whatever he was saying was bullshit because he's white, right? What he's saying is absolutely true. There have literally been thousands and thousands of phrases coined over the years, and nobody has ever tried to cash in on them without actually doing something about it and marketing it. Asking for money because you think you coined a popular term is what's bullshit.

No copyright/trademark=no money. You are not entitled to any money for using a phrase. The fact that you feel you are is ludicrous. Try working for the money instead of asking for handouts.

Honestly this is kinda stupid. To say you deserve money and recognition for a phrase is a huge stretch, and asking for so much money too. 100k? Really? And why are you all trying to make this a race thing? XD Also, bringing up other situations where people got money for stupid reasons doesn't make this any better.

This is a very confusing fundraiser... What is the money going towards, your cosmetics line, actressing career, or nursing studies? And how did you come up with the number $100,000? That's quite a bit of money! Have others profited from using 'your' word ? Is there some sort of business plan to justify why you need all that money?

I was going to wait until you had a business plan to donate, but seeing all of the angry trash posting to your page disparaging you made me decide to give you money now. --- I wish you all the best, but decide on a plan first, this will help you to succeed in your venture. I hope you raise 100K and beyond. All the best!

I don't understand why people go out of their way to say stupid, hateful shit. I think you're doing something great, which is following your dreams. You've made your mark on the world, now it's time to stamp it with a trademark! I can't give much, but I support any black woman going out to chase a dream, because I plan to do the same. Besides, I've definitely giggled at your vine countless times, so hell yes. Go get 'em, Sis!!
