Melvin or as we affectionately call him, "Pempin" is a passionate 25-year-old, hard-working, young man who calls home the city of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Melvin is a loyal, kind, honest, sincere person with a strong will to live. Unfortunately, he is currently going through the most critical and difficult time of his life having been diagnosed with an advancing Endocarditis which without the proper and expensive medical treatments, could end his life forever.
It all started with bacterial pharyngotonsillitis which affected Melvin on, January 14, 2019. Immediately, Melvin sought medical help, hoping for the best, but unfortunately was dealt a hand much harder than anticipated. A bacterial endocarditis, occurs as a result of inflammation of the endocardium; that is, an inflammatory process located in the inner lining of the heart chambers and valves and one of the 7 most rare diseases that can directly affect the heart, this disease affects 1 in 1,000 people and in this case, it unfortunately affects our dear friend, Melvin.
Melvin is currently hospitalized in Bendaña Hospital in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He was admitted by the direct recommendation of Dr. Carlos Sandoval (cardiologist) and his family doctor, Dr. Marcelina Vásquez (internist) on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 and has remained there since. His doctors have indicated explicitly that Melvin cannot receive visitors due to his severe state and only family members can be close to him.
The reason he remains in such a severe state is because, the bacteria that were housed in his heart were found with a magnitude of 4.5cm; which is way above average. ( a normal case of endocarditis, with a patient at high risk ranges from 1.5cm to 2cm. -according to his cardiologist, Dr. Carlos Sandoval. )

Melvin is fighting fiercely for his life but the treatment costs are extremely high. Close family members and friends have created a benefit for Melvin, implementing food sales and activities to raise money and donations in his local city. We ask you to collaborate, however you can! No matter the amount, we have faith that together, all of US will be able to reach the goal in order to support Melvin and his family with medical expenses, during this difficult time. We still do not know what the final amount will be as Melvin is still hospitalized and the costs are rising with every day he is admitted.

Una Endocarditis bacteriana, una enfermedad que se produce como resultado de la inflamación del endocardio; es decir, un proceso inflamatorio localizado en el revestimiento interno de las cámaras y válvulas cardíacas y una de las 7 enfermedades mas raras que pueden afectar directamente al corazón, una enfermedad que afecta a 1 de cada 1000 y que en este caso, desafortunadamente, afecta a nuestro amigo.
Melvin actualmente esta internado en el Hospital Bendaña de San Pedro Sula, Honduras desde el Miércoles, 26 de Enero de 2019 por ordenes del Dr. Carlos Sandoval (cardiólogo) y su medico de cabecera el Dr. Marcelino Vásquez (internista) quienes han indicado de manera explicita que Melvin no puede recibir visitas debido a su estado de gravedad y que únicamente los familiares pueden estar cerca de El.
El motivo de su estado de gravedad es debido a que la bacteria que se encuentra alojada en su corazón se encontró con una magnitud de 4.5cm lo cual esta muy por arriba de lo normal en una endocarditis de una persona quien no esta en riesgo cuya magnitud es de 1.5cm a 2cm, de acuerdo con el cardiólogo el Dr. Carlos Sandoval. Mostramos un video en esta publicación que muestra la bacteria a la hora de su descubrimiento en el corazón de Melvin.
Melvin esta luchando ferozmente por su vida pero los costos del tratamiento son extremadamente elevados por lo que los familiares, amigos, compañeros de trabajo y conocidos hemos creado una campaña en pro del beneficio de Melvin implementando actividades de ventas de comida en la ciudad local y donaciones.
