Pay for a new eyeball

Steve Blake hates to do this.  Nobody wants a handout.  Especially someone who has consistently had a job since he was 17 years old and has never drawn unemployment or any social assistance.   But, sometimes asking for help is the right thing to do.   As you know, if you know him, Steve had a major eye episode on New Year's Eve.  A hemorrhage of the left eye and was completely blind as a result of it. Cause was extreme "diabetic retinopathy."  In the weeks that followed he had major laser treatments to protect the good eye, injection therapies, and eventually major surgery.  He is on the mend and can see again in his left eye.  About 50% of normal and continuing to clear.  The problem is the financial impact.  Since it happened right at the beginning of the year, he had to start at a brand new deductible.  He had enough money in his HSA to cover a lot of it, but that money was there to pay for his insulin until he could meet his deductible for prescriptions.  As you know, the prescription deductible is a completely separate one.    So the end result is... he is approaching his maximum out of pocket of over $5000.  As a single man with no deductions, living alone this is obviously a financial hardship.  However, a slight boost, like what is being asked for on this GoFundMe, could make all the difference in the world.  Steve asks, insists in fact, that none of his family who are also struggling actually give.  Please do not put yourself in any material discomfort to help.  Rather, just a Prayer and your continued positive thoughts.  But if you can help him a little, God bless you for it.  It will not be wasted.  Rather it will be used to get insulin, pay rent, and most importantly pay the deductibles for the procedures.  He is obviously embarrassed to ask for any help.
