Paw Project for Chandler and Joey

Meet Joey and Chandler!! These 2 boys came in to rescue with Heartland Humane Society when the people who got them from a horrible living situation of a run down house and no love or care from the people living with them. The ladies were moving and could not keep them along with their 4 cats, so they turned them over to Heartland. The boys got vaccinated and it was found that Joey is FIV positive. But upon further examination, they both are suffering the ill effects of having had their front feet declawed. Their tendons are retracting and they are unable to walk correctly on their paws causing extreme pain and soreness. The bones are literally pushing through to the paw pads so that the bone is what they are walking on and it is even sharp to the touch. Can you imagine walking like that????  So to give them relief we need to raise the money for both of them to have the surgery to release the tendons so they can flex their paws and walk correctly. Besides having the tendons pulling back on him, Joey also has a bone fragment from the declaw that needs removed, which is also probably causing him pain. I hope that after reading this and seeing what happens after being declawed that if you have ever considered doing this to your kitty, you will reconsider. And for anyone who thinks that their cat is ok and never had issues, I am here to tell you that both of these boys walk, run, jump and use their liter boxes just fine. Just because they don't show you that they are hurting does not mean it is not happening. Cats are amazing at masking their pain.
