Paul Revere Bell

Donation protected

St. Stephen's Church in Boston's historic North End  is the last church standing in Boston today designed by famed architect Charles Bulfinch, who went on to design much of the U.S. Capitol building.

On the top of St. Stephen's is a bell tower that holds a bell made by Paul Revere. Revere and his father had attended the church in their day when it had been a Congregational Church.

The bell tower now needs quite a bit of repair, $140,000 worth to be exact. Parts of the rotted wood need replacing as well as an upgraded painting. One would think that such a repair would qualify for historical preservation funds, but because the building is a "church," Father Costello is finding it very difficult to qualify for such funding. He is trying to keep from having to spend the church's savings on this costly repair - repair to a part of his building that is truly part of our history and one that tourists from all over the world stop to view. The church's doors are also open to all visitors/tourists taking the historical Boston Trail and who want to see Bulfinch's interior designs as well as look at the display cabinets  housing Revere's tools.

Grants and local business donations are being sought, but we hope to supplement these with donations from this GoFundMe account. We are a non-profit (04-2852394) and your donation should be tax-deductible as well as being greatly appreciated! Thank you!
