Lisa and Paul’s love story started in Roth High School in Henrietta NY and continued during their college years until they were married in 1992. God has Blessed them with two wonderful children, Paul Christian (19) and Olivia Faith (15). Paul just wrapped up his sophomore year at Fredonia University of NY, and Olivia just wrapped up her High School freshman year.
Life changed almost overnight for their family in the past year. Lisa (50) was diagnosed with Stage-4 Colon Cancer in July 2014. Paul (52) was diagnosed in April 2015 with a rare form of abdominal cancer called Signet Ring Carcinoma -Stage 4. Lisa is now on long term disability (LTD) and Paul is balancing work and using short term disability (STD) as needed until he runs out of STD.
Paul and Lisa share the same oncologist so fortunately they are able to coordinate their care and weekly chemotherapy sessions at the Rochester’s Wilmot Cancer Center which consist of 4 hours of chemotherapy in the hospital - then 46 hours of chemo, via med pumps at home; they are on alternate weeks so they are able to support each other when post chemotherapy side effects/challenges appear.
Spiritually the family is doing well; in fact Paul and Lisa are serving as an inspiration to us all. Their Faith in God has grown and their Trust in Him has not waned. “Being a Child of God does not mean we get a pass on the ups and downs of Life” Paul said, “If we praise God only in the good times and forget to praise him during the difficult times, we are missing the point of what Faith is”.
Financially, the medical costs for their journey with cancer have begun to unravel their life-long dreams of retirement, supporting (current) college costs for their son and saving/preparing for their daughter’s college dreams.
The purpose of this Funding Campaign is to reduce or eliminate certain core expenses for Paul and Lisa to prevent them from being financially devastated by their mounting medical bills.
Paul, Lisa and the Family would like to thank everyone for their faithful prayers and support, they truly appreciate it.
