Ben Hornbeck and Abbey Eckert got engaged a little over 3 months ago. Everyone knew the moment they met that these two were a perfect match for each other! They both started new jobs at the start of the new year and have been feverishly planning for their wedding this summer.
About a week ago Benjamin and Abbey received some news that threw them a curve ball. Benjamin went in for a checkup on his heart and found out he needed to have open heart surgery to fix his VSD he has had since birth. Luckily, this is the simplest type of heart surgery, however, it is still open heart surgery with many risks involved.
Considering all of these things, Ben and Abbey decided that since they were already engaged and committed to each other, what better time to tie the knot than now. Ben and Abbey got married on 3/18/15 and two days later Benjamin's surgery will take place at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. Benjamin's VSD repair is done more frequently in children so his cardiologist felt it was best to send him to LB.
Bens recovery time will be 6-8 weeks. Inlcuding the medical bills and time off of work for both of them, they are going to be plagued with major expenses... Whether its $1 or $1,000, lets HELP them dismiss the financial worries so they can focus on their love for each other during Ben's recovery. Thanks to everyone who has already shown such great support for them! And thank you to anyone that donates to help this amazing couple!
