Seattle Women's Steel Pan Project

The arts are what save our sanity, yet so little funding is designated to giving citizens the opportunity to engage in arts practices. In 2013, Oriana Estrada and Michael Shantz came together to organize low cost, steel pan music lessons for the community. The classes are intended specifically for women and girls, in order to remedy the gender imbalance often encountered in musical communities.

The Seattle Women's Steel Pan Project has been offering these low cost classes for over 2 years and is dedicated to continuing to empower women and girls through music, dance and culture.

We need your help to not only keep this project going but to expand it's reach and potential.

The money raised by this campaign will go to further develop the program through scholarships for students who can not pay for classes, teaching fees, purchasing a vehicle which can transport instruments and students and maintaining the space and instruments used for the program.

A community rich in artistic opportunities is a healthy and robust community. Please consider donating and helping us continue this important work.

To check out all the hard work we've been doing come to our show Saturday November 14th 9:00pm at The Royal Room in Columbia City.  https://www.strangertickets.com/events/28630939/naomi-wachira-seattle-womens-steel-pan-project
