Pandora's ACL Replacement Surgery

So, on an otherwise lovely Saturday afternoon, while we were decorating the house for the holidays, I stepped off the fourth rung of a 6 foot ladder thinking that it was the first. Needless to say, gravity took over and in less than a second, I had fallen. My heel hit the ground and my knee bent…the wrong direction. I heard the ‘snap, crackle, pop’, dropped to the ground, and hubs heard my screams for help.

Thankfully, the X-rays showed that I didn’t break any bones. However, the MRI revealed a complete tear of my ACL and lateral Meniscus with partial tears and sprains to the MCL & PCL. I’ve been in moderate pain, on crutches and required to wear a knee brace ever since. Bottom line, I need arthroscopic surgery to replace and repair the ACL & Meniscus. I will be laid up and in therapy for months. As bad as that is, I admit that what’s worse is that, even with insurance, we simply don’t have the money to cover the deductible and co-pays.

Hubs works hard and makes good money, but the entirety of his checks goes to the bills, the major one, of course, being the mortgage. I work part-time with a menial income as well. Regardless, the last few years have been tough ones financially, and keeping up on the mortgage has been a real struggle. I believe we can get caught up on the mortgage, but not if we have to divert that money to the surgery. I also confess that I have been contemplating putting off the surgery indefinitely if it means worrying about foreclosure while I’m immobile and meant to be healing.

We have received some assistance from family, though I am humbly seeking your assistance as well. I said that I would never do this again, but find myself with no other options at this point. I will be eternally grateful for any donations, no matter how small, to assist getting me back up on my own two feet (or knee, I guess) again. Thank you and much, much love!
