Hello everyone, I'm creating this in desperation to help my mother & really appreciate anyone who takes the time to hear us out.  There are a couple elements that lead to this but I will try to be as concise as possible.

Those familiar with my mother and I may know that she suffered a terrible car crash in 2009 and was in a coma for close to two months. She went thru another month of physical rehab to learn how to walk again, but was left with a traumatic brain injury as a result. Honestly I considered it a miracle at the time due to the state she was in. We had been staying at our family home owned by my grandmother ever since.

This year I fathered my first child with my partner and faced the reality of carving my own path separate from my mothers. After 9 years I left the house to be with my budding family. I was confident in the support/concern of friends and neighbors in the building to help lookout for her when I wasn't around, however that wasn't the case.

Due to my mothers physical and mental condition it can be hard for her to walk long distances, she doesn't have the greatest memory, and sometimes has trouble identifying peoples intentions. Also because of these things she currently is living off of a fixed income.

After what we both thought was a close friend got into an argument with her husband she asked to stay with my mom. During that time my mom trusted her to help with errands and tasks that are hard for her.

Around that same time my mom informed me of an incident she had with a neighbor regarding the sale of my grandmothers condo unit.  We have nothing to do with the sale and have no ownership so there is not much for us to say. When she refused to share her business with him he called her a "black bitch" and went on a tirade about her. At the time we had been planning and saving for my mom to move into a place on her own close to where me and my partner stay so we could all be with each other.

The next time I visited the building we ran into this same neighbor again. I was with my mother, partner and son but took it upon myself to ask him to please leave my family alone. On this day he took the elevator upstairs immediately returned back downstairs and started yelling & taunting me and my family. Once we got off the elevator on our floor (he lives on the same floor as us...as does the woman whom my mom let stay with her) , he then shouted that he "wasn't going to be told what to do by some nigger". He also claimed to be a FOID card holder and taunted me directly asking what I was going to do about it. Later that day when we went to report it to management we were told that the building has no incident report system but the manager promised to take note and talk to the man.

I had been away from the house for the almost all of May and realized there was some funds missing as I have helped my mom manage her bills for the past 9 years and things were not adding up.

Fast forward to last Sunday June 3rd where I saw my mother at a funeral service for my late Uncle. She informed me that the friend staying with her disappeared with her house keys, cellphone, and Chase bank card. She was confident that she would show up, and honestly so was I. We had been friends with her and her husband for some time, I wasn't made aware of the fact she was staying there till that day however.

That same day the attack in the video above happened around 5:30 pm while my mom was sitting in the lobby of my grandmothers condo. The man in the video is the neighbor we tried to report to management last month. We've gotten an order of protection and are currently waiting for criminal proceedings to move forward.

Which brings me to why I need your help. Over the last two months the place where I first stayed in 1994 when my mom brought me here from Nigeria became a hostile environment & in the span of a few hours became unsafe for my mom to be there.

My mother is a senior citizen, lifelong taxpayer and a great loving person. She accomplished and overcame so much in her life and I need help to be able to give her the lifestyle she deserves. We were saving her funds to move her into an apartment close to me for time being but after this I believe she needs to be somewhere with people looking out for her because I just can't be there all the time.

We are now in need of help to cover medical and legal expenses, rent in a protected environment, moving fees, and general expenses that come with a family disaster. We've found our way thru a number of situations in life but this one is just way too much for me to handle alone, and with the weight I have chosen to take on as a father.

I honestly am begging anyone who may see this to please help me ensure the safety of my mother. My hope would be to raise around $5,000 in a month or less to be able to get my mom somewhere safe.

Any direction towards legal help and senior housing would be extremely helpful to us too.

Thanks for your time.
