It is not easy for Pam to accept help, as Pam always prefers to give to others, but we finally convinced her to allow us to set this account up for her.  Please read to see why we want to help Pam...

Six years ago our dear friend Pam Long moved her photography studio Pam Long Photography to eclectic and fun Main Street Ellicott City. From the beginning Pam knew and loved how special her new studio home was. Giving her heart to all that is Main Street, Pam quickly became a true delegate, supporting events and businesses outside her own at every chance possible with her camera, social media posts, loving presence, and caring heart.

When Main Street became a contender for the Benjamin Moore’s Main Street Matters Campaign, Pam joined in to do everything possible for the win, including creating compelling video testimonies of business owners telling their story of what makes Main Street Ellicott City special. And win they did! Because Main Street EC truly is a special place with incredibly special residents and businesses. The store fronts of Main Street were painted as a result, and looked beautiful.

On July 30, 2016, shortly after the town had been repainted, a flash flood rushed through the town and tore apart the beauty of all that was. Out of that terrible tragedy came a strong resolve to rebuild, and through each day of the past two years Pam was right there with the leaders of this effort, teaming up with businesses and residents to hold up Main Street and celebrate each success as businesses rebuilt and new businesses moved in. Pam found or invented ways to celebrate others - through capturing and broadcasting Ribbon cuttings, fundraisers, initiating Facebook Live posts, photo-documenting Main Street traditions, Pam was there to broadcast it with a huge heart, genuine cheer and deeply felt celebration for others.

This summer was to mark the completion of the rebuild and the excitement and love visitors and businesses and residents share for their beloved town. Tragically, a few days ago almost 10 inches of rain fell, causing another flash flood and devastating Main Street Ellicott City, tearing apart businesses, livelihoods, and homes, and taking the life of hero Eddison Hermond.

While the town is trying to recover, and you support the businesses and people who own, live or worked there, please consider supporting Pam Long by choosing her studio for your photography, purchasing her custom designed t-shirt, reaching out to her, or giving here. With each Main Street challenge, Pam has found the joy and beauty in the cause to help everything and everyone move forward together.

We want so much to support Pam in her every day work to to do what she loves, to keep her studio open, to celebrate others, to support non-profits through her photography and video, to help others on Main Street, and to continue to be a vibrant part of this endearing and vital community that everyone cherishes so much. We cherish Pam and all of her talents, and hope that we can support her, and even when her studio is able to reopen, we know that Pam will herself need our love and support to strengthen her to rise above the challenges ahead.

Warmly,
Anne Looney and Michelle Wildman
