This is Boots. Boots was born to a ferral mother and needed a home. In June of 2013, Boots joined our family. He's a ball of energy and has more personality than any animal I've come across in my life. He's truly unique and brightens my day with his quirky nature.
About two weeks ago, my boyfriend and I caught Boots relieving himself on the carpet. Thinking this was just him acting out, we stopped him and cleaned up his mess. It kept happening. This wasn't normal behavior for our cat. After a frantic Google search, we decided to take Boots to the vet. Immediately the vet urged me that Boots had Urinary Tract Obstruction and needed to be admitted right away. Three days, in the hospital with a catheter and meds, this visit cost Nick and I $1,900. This was all we had saved.
A few weeks go by and Nick and I are noticing similar symptoms in our Boots. My heart sank. I knew that if he had the same obstruction, Nick and I could not afford to take care of our baby. We took him to an Emergecy vet at 1AM. They were able to express his bladder, yet made it known that if it happens again, he needs to have surgery to correct the problem. After paying for his ER visit and the medicines they sent us home with, it's another $250 dollars we scrounged up using whatever we had left in our bank accounts and maxing our credit cards.
The next step for Boots is surgery, but we can't afford it alone. If this goes untreated, it could kill him. He will be unable to pee and his kidneys will fail. The thought of this happening hurts my heart. If Nick and I can't pay for this surgery, we will have to have him put down. I can't imagine having to do that so I'm begging for any help we can get. Please give Boots a chance at a long, healthy life. We're only asking for money to pay for his surgery. The remainder of his treatments will fall on us.
