Everyone's beloved Jim Parker would never ask. But he needs our help after suffering a massive stroke on November 15, one week before Thanksgiving.

From Colorado to California, Washington, Oregon, and anywhere he has been, he has made lifelong friends along his journey. A newspaper man, a fixture in the craft beer industry, a jokester, inventor of totchos, ladies man, brother, father, friend, and cancer survivor, he is now a stroke survivor.

Please come together with us as we rally for his speedy recovery and return to the helm of his latest brewery project with Asher David Brewing and Cellarworks.

This amount may seem daunting, however, the first bill has arrived from Life Flight... for $50,000.00. Some expenses will be covered, some will not. These funds will be used to cover potions of his two week stay at OHSU and portions of his ongoing stay in a rehabilitation facility in Portland, Oregon. Additional expenses will include medical transportation and other incidentals until and after he is covered by Medicaid. Additionally, the family is open to rehabilitation methods being used in Europe which have not yet made it to the US, as well as other alternative therapies. Anything to get him back on his feet.

We have chosen to launch this Go Fund Me campaign today in concert with Jim’s 58th Birthday and an Appreciation Day Benefit being held in Jim’s honor at Belmont Station in Portland.

We will have complete transparency regarding the use of funds raised, with weekly updates and progress notes.

I would like to direct you to an article at brewpublic.com which gives us a glimpse into the many achievements of our beloved Jim Parker.

Hello, hello! Good news, I visited with Mr. Jim Parker yesterday, and he indicated he is definitely noticing some improvements in his speech and communication abilities. As he proved by saying “Worse” when asked about his new roommate. Unfortunately, he is having terrible luck in this department! He has been moved to room 4 and I suspect he’ll be moving again soon.
We would again like to thank everyone who has donated, helped the family, even the simple act of keeping him in our hearts and minds - there is no gift too small.
Jim clearly has a long road ahead of him and he revels being read the notes from his donors, whether they be anonymous or not. And it is clear his care will be costly, but with your continued visits or cards and letters, and of course, your donations make a world of difference as well.
A final note, I apologize for the tardiness of my jim update. Please forgive me? The rest of team Parker will be stepping in to remain on track with weekly updates.
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and that your new year is a good, safe, and happy one.

Cheers!

Thank you! Thank you! And thank you some more! From Jim Parker and Team Parker. Your donations are sincerely appreciated. Whether one of the $4,277 raised through Go Fund Me, or by your raised glass at Belmont’Station, or one of the cash donations made at Belmont Station, thank you so much. The Benefit at Belmont Station had a steady stream of Parker’s pals from noon until 11pm, the place was packed with brewer’s, buyers, sellers, owners, family, and friends. And the guest of honor insisted on attending. He was blown away (and quite moved) that people were coming together for him. With doctor approval, he was able to show up and see his friends on his 58th birthday. He stayed for about an hour and now has photos on his wall of many of the attendees, with their healing thoughts, and bad jokes. A couple days later, Lisa from Belmont Station, hand delivered a check of $3,000! Bringing the total raised in only FIVE days to $7, 277! Amazing!

I am just leaving Jim. And we had a great visit! We even got some work done. I read him some of your messages and who some of the donors are, and for each name mentioned he has a story to tell. He can’t tell it yet, but he will. With his determination and your continued love and support - he’ll be telling stories and bad jokes again until the cows come home.

We are toying with the idea of a benefit in Seattle in mid-late January and have already secured a venue. We’d like to confirm there is enough interest to do one up there, so please feel free to reach out if you have thoughts. Otherwise, there has been talk of chartering a bus from Seattle to Portland for the next Portland Benefit featuring Jim’s friends’ bands - Pagan Jug Band and Amanda Richards and The Good Long Whiles! Date and venue TBD.

BIG LOVE AND HUGS FROM JIM!!
