Aloha Everyone!
My name is Blossom Aloha Caballero and I am the Owner of Aloha Cheer Academy in Waipio, Hawaii.
This past Thursday-March 10th, we brought our International Open Coed Level 5 team (ACES) to Sacramento for the Aloha Spirit National Championships. The ultimate goal for this trip was to bring back a national title and hopefully even a bid to the World Championships that will take place in Orlando, Florida at the end of April.
On Saturday-March 12th the team went to Applebee's for a team dinner after day 1 of competition. While leaving dinner, we discovered that 2 out of our 4 vans were broken into and half of the teams backpacks were stolen. Things such as: Cheer shoes, practice gear, competition makeup, laptop, go pro, jewelry, wallets, ID's, iPods, etc. went missing :(
We still had to compete on Sunday for finals and we were stuck in a really bad situation and the local authorities were no help.
With the help of the CHEER COMMUNITY here in Sacramento, the athletes were able to borrow shoes and other items needed to compete.
The team competed on Sunday and hit a Zero Deduction routine!!!!! The routine won them their division and also an at-large bid to the World Championships! Receiving an at-large bid is an invitation only. The team will still have to pay for room and board all on their own.
Now that the team has accepted their bid, they have less than 4 weeks to raise $1,500 each in order to compete at Worlds next month.
The majority of the team are young adults (college students with part-time jobs) and with the short amount of time to raise funds any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Dispite what happened the night before finals, the team really pulled together and left it all on the mat!
Aloha Cheer Academy Aces is the only team who has ever gone to worlds from Hawaii. The first time was in 2012 and now this year in 2016. Aces will be representing the Aloha Spirit Association along with the State of
Hawaii at the World Cheerleading Championships!
