Mackenzie Jensen was on his way to work Friday afternoon when he fell victim to a random act of violence.  A passenger in a white bronco threw a sizable cinder block at Mackenzie striking  his face resulting in multiple facial fractures.  He has endured the first of two surgeries currently living with his jaw wired shut.  The second surgery is scheduled for Thursday 8/13 where the will be reconstructing the malar (zygomatic) bone structure.  He will lose multiple weeks of work.

We are looking to recover medical expenses in addition to his lost wages.  Any funds in excess of these projected expenses will be donated to "Secondhand Hounds Rescue."

Hi there, I am so disheartened to hear about this horrible act of violence. I work in billing and coding for an oral surgery practice. With assaults resulting in jaw fractures, I often refer patients to a program funded by the state of MN called the Crime Victims Reparations Board. In my experience they are very helpful in paying medical and dental expenses and even lost wages. Here's the link! Best of luck in his recovery! https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/ojp/help-for-crime-victims/Pages/crime-victims-reparations.aspx

Saw this article on Huffington post that led me to this page: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/minnesota-bicyclists-cement-brick-attacks_55ca4294e4b0f1cbf1e67a3e?kvcommref=mostpopular I appreciate the intention to donate the excess money raised to charity, but I'd prefer my donation to go to Mackenzie. Just making up for lost wages and medical expenses doesn't account for the horrible injuries that he sustained from a random act of violence.

Anthony, thank you for your donation and support. Mackenzie's wages and our medical expenses will absolutely receive the majority of donations. We will donate some funds to the rescue being that we made that proclamation right off the bat. Due to the overwhelming response to this fundraising initiative we are looking at other ways to support Mackenzie on his path to becoming whole again. He is starting school this fall and our plan to allocate some funds for his tuition as well. Consider your requests granted. Best...

I appreciate the generosity that has poured in to help you Mackenzie, I wish you a speedy recovery. I as well would like to see any extra money raised go directly to Mackenzie, the loss of work and time healing from such an inhumane act deserves a little extra after the expenses are covered. I see that you are going to school and I am aware of the financial burden that comes with pursuing higher education so I hope that some of the extra funds can go towards helping in your endeavors. Keep pedaling, and keep smiling!!
