April 21, 2016 I filed a lawsuit against New York Law School. I was still a law student. (Yes, I originally created this GoFundMe page 2 years ago. )I had been assaulted at the school's campus by a drug-using white male student in October 2014. Today, my attacker, Stephen Nesbit, a man who attacked and preyed on women (plural) at a law school--has a law degree.
Vulnerable populations beware: a man who attacks women on a law school campus will do it anywhere.
But what followed--from the dean, Title IX coodinator, head or racial justice and diversity, and others on staff--haunted and devastated me to the point that I couldn't expect to be alive 3-months after filing suit.
God be praised, March 2018 I am alive and the case is in discovery in the Southern District of New York. (case no. 16-cv-04283)
I still need your support.
(Need more info? Read more about me , my personal and professional activities, and the case .)
The Court has issued two Orders in the case. Both demonstrate a willingness to insulate lawyers and legal institutions from the consequences of bad-acts (the court dismissed 5 individuals, which probably wouldn't have happened had I had adequate legal representation from the start. However, because of this ordeal, I created an entity to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else on my watch: read more ).
However, there is no such immunity granted to members of the legal profession. So, this January I filed an interlocutory appeal (which is pending in the Second Circuit, case no. 18-252).
Your support will go a long way to bringing a prompt and right judgment in this case.
