I am so Happy you got the money for this, This story brought tears to my eyes as I am legally deaf to a damaged eardrum from spinal menegitis when I was a year old I could never afford the special cross over hearing aid that it takes for my condition but I am thankful I still have 1 good ear I was lucky as many that get what I had when it starts in the inner ear lose 100% of their hearing so this story really got to me I hope that someone or several in your town put pressure to get something done to the parents or have the town petition to get that Judge thrown out of office for this which should not be left unpunished. So happy that there are many careing people out there still today to help your boy God bless everyone.

I was bullied badly at school as i had special needs, so i really feel for your little boy, but i am appaled that the parents of the kids who did this are not paying for new hearing aids or at least part of them.

i know how your little guy feels i to wear a hearing aid and as your son does i like molds that stand out. over christmas i had a cashier refuse to speak to me when he noticed my hearing aid, tell him to keep his chin up, hearing loss is on the rise and there will soon be others that know how we feel

Does Idaho have a small claims court? If so, I suggest that you politely ask the parents of the boys to pay to repair or replace his hearing aids. If they refuse, inform them that you will have to use the courts. They will then have to pay for not only the hearing aids, but also the court costs.

I am so happy to see that his hearing aids will be replaced. My son is now 22 and hearing impaired, and I am sorry to say he still runs into bullies. He works with the public and ignorant comments are still made. I wish there were a program to better educate the public about the hearing impaired. They are no different than the kid next to them that wears glasses. I could get on my soap box and go on and on. My son may be an adult, but i will continue to protect him and be a voice and advocate for other hearing impaired/deaf individuals. God bless.

I'm so thankful to see everyone pull together to raise the money for Koltin and his family. However we also need to keep these other children that bully in our prayers. It has been proven over and over again that they themselves are either bullied by other children or by their own parents. Good Bless all our children!

Our daughter wears cochlear implants, we know how important it is to have on technology all waking hours of every day! I was so happy to see the money was raised in four short days for Koltin! I hope the genorosity of others shows Koltin that the good people in our world will always out shine the bullies! I'm sure this story will help create awareness and hopefully spark conversations amongst families to let their children celebrate out differences!

So happy that you are able to get him new hearing aides. I would definitely still file charges against the bullies. Make sure that you get reimbursed. You could use that money to put into a new fund, along with whatever you are already paying forward, and maybe start a new non profit that helps children in need of hearing aides. It would be something close to your heart, and you could expand it in your son's name. Just an idea for you.

as a mother of a non verbal child this just infuriates me to no end, I would definitely go to the parents and if nothing else make them work off debt, they may be too young to understand their crime I don't know, but maybe working it off or even grounding them from speaking or even giving them ear plugs and not allowing them to hear a sound for a few days might change their tune a little,

Hiya Koltin! I'm a little older than you. About 57 years older! And I have always been severely hard of hearing like you. My left ear has never worked too well since birth and I lost almost all of the hearing in my right ear a number of years ago. But don't worry about me, 'cause I'm doing great! And you will, too! Listen, my little friend, if you tell your Mom to go on Amazon and look up a book called "Cosmo Gets An Ear," I think you'll really like it. It's about a little boy just like you who gets his first hearing aid. He's kind of a kooky little guy to begin with and there's some really funny moments in there to enjoy. I happened to write the book, but I'm not telling you about it so that I get money from people buying it. I get no money at all and the point of the book is to educate kids especially, that wearing hearing aids is no different than wearing eyeglasses. If you do get the book, I hope you enjoy it. I'd love to hear back from you and your Mom if you do! Keep that big smile going, Koltin and never, never, never let anybody tell you that you aren't special. You have a place in my heart always... and remember especially to keep reading good books everyday because that will help you overcome your hearing loss. That's what I did and God blessed me with a wonderful way to see the world in a different way. God bless you always son, Gary and "Cosmo"
