Save Dave

On February 27th 2017 Dave Pruitt's life changed forever. We had a good firehouse dinner as usual, played dice to see who would clean, Dave even had to run stairs for poor rolls, like I said, typical night. It wasn't a typical night. In the middle of the night a structure fire came in, he was driving Engine 3. He was complaining that he had slept on his arm wrong and that it was "asleep". After the fire was wrapping up and Engine 3 was released, he noticed the "asleep" feeling was travelling down into his hip and leg. This was over an hour later, something was wrong. His Captain took the Engine out of service and drove him to the hospital. Fearing a stroke, the Dr in the ER ordered a CAT scan. He was not having a stroke, instead they found a mass, a mass the size of an orange. The next few days were a whirlwind of treatment options, hospital transfers and the fear of what was to come.

The last 2 months have been a physical and emotional roller coaster. Since the diagnosis he's had his tumor removed, battled a skull/brain infection, had a portion of his skull removed, has had countless hours of physical therapy, not to mention the unknowns that are still to come.

Dave and his family have encurred many expenses so far. With more surgery to come, so will more expenses. Every time he goes out of town for a surgery his family needs food, lodging and fuel. There' are still bills to be paid. On top of the health/financial aspect he was in the midst of remodeling his house. I'm sure he would like to finish his house himself but that's not in the cards right now.

I don't pretend to know the financial impact that this has had on the Pruitt family. I do know that if any of us have the means to help a friend and his family out during these rough times it will be greatly appreciated.
