OTHS Crew needs a new ergometer!

Donation protected
Once the ice melts, Osgoode Township High School students, with the help of their parents, travel 35 minutes by car to row on the water at the Ottawa Rowing Club.  But until then, the OTHS rowers train at the high school in Metcalfe using rowing machines, other fitness equipment and weights.

The team has had quite a bit of success over the years, winning races at the ERA Regatta, formerly held at the Olympic Basin in Montreal, and races at the Ottawa High School Regatta.  Twice OTHS has had boats medal at the Canadian Secondary Schools Regatta-- the Canadian High School Rowing Championships.  Other successes of the program are that OTHS graduates have gone on to row at Brock, Ottawa U, Trent, and Queen's. In fact, Alex Kunkel and Mac Bruce-Fuoco-- grads of OTHS--won the OUAA Regatta in the Light Men's pair for Ottawa U in the fall of 2016.  That said, however, the most important way the team's been successful is that every year students sign up for rowing to get into shape and because it's fun.

The reason we're doing this Go Fund Me is we want a new rowing machine. It would be really nice to have another machine because it would get us 1 machine closer to being able to have all the rowers on the team on an erg at once.  We currently have 6 machines with a team of 11 rowers, 3 boys and 8 girls. When we do erg workouts, we break the team into groups. That works, but it would be nice to be able to have more rowers going at the same time...
