My name is Ya-Marie Sesay, I currently reign as the 2016-2017 Miss Independence Sierra Leone USA. It has been my dream to uphold a title and make a difference in a country that I love so dearly.
With my soft spot for children, I wanted to help kids that needed the most support and guidance. I chose orphans; there are nearly 310,000 orphans in Sierra Leone, 8,500 make up Ebola orphans, 18,000 make up aid orphans and the rest orphans from the war, abandoned, or other circimcstances.
I plan to create gift baskets for 200-300 orphans, which include educational games and books, non perishable items, a t-shirt, toiletry items and more. I also plan to execute a weekend of inspirational fun activities for the orphans in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and Pujehun, Sierra Leone in order for them to understand that you must still have the drive to reach success in your life despite the loss of your loved ones.
Help me reach my goal of $7,000 to inspire these children and bring in a positive light in their lives to push and provide guidance for them.
