Orchestra Controcorrente, Orchestra classica su strumenti storici, è una nuova realtà musicale, un progetto originale che nasce dall'incontro di eccellenti giovani musicisti accomunati da una grande stima reciproca e da anni di intensa attività professionale nei più prestigiosi ensembles europei specializzati in musica antica.
Siamo animati da vivo spirito di ricerca, da un approccio visionario e creativo, dal desiderio di realizzare un sogno musicale, un diverso modo di fare musica : 20 musicisti provenienti da sei diversi paesi (Italia, Russia, Messico, Inghilterra, Germania e Svizzera) per un’orchestra classica senza direttore, completamente autogestita nella scelta dei programmi e dei collaboratori musicali e basata sul lavoro di ogni singolo musicista che non è solo strumentista ma ha un ruolo importante ed attivo in tutte le fasi progettuali ed organizzative di ogni evento musicale.
Il sentiero che abbiamo intrapreso guarda ad “un‘antica visione” col vivo desiderio di rendere ogni singolo musicista pienamente responsabile del suo ruolo all'interno del gruppo, di stimolare la singolarità di ciascuno e rendere la ricerca interpretativa un momento da disputarsi creativamente insieme.
Provare ad essere il “musicista completo” tanto caro al mondo antico è la sfida ideale che come singoli membri di Controcorrente ci siamo posti.
« Bach Sons » è il nostro debutto discografico ed è anche il primo progetto che ha segnato il cammino della nostra orchestra e del nostro lavoro insieme. Il programma del cd rappresenta un punto di partenza stilistico e musicale fondamentale per una orchestra che si forma nel mondo barocco per proiettarsi consapevolmente nel 'classicismo' : un viaggio alla scoperta della nascita e dell’evoluzione della Sinfonia in Germania in un arco temporale che va dal 1745 al 1770, in pieno periodo “Sturm und Drang”.
Un’occasione per mettere a confronto le differenze stilistiche fra quattro figli illustri di Johann Sebastian Bach: Wilhelm Friedemann, il primogenito prediletto, considerato dai contemporanei il più grande e virtuoso organista e fughista dell’epoca; Carl Philipp Emanuel, grandissimo compositore, tastierista e miglior rappresentante dell’” Empfindsamer Stil” del cui genio furono profondi estimatori Haydn, Mozart e Beethoven; Johann Christoph Friedrich, abile fortepianista che visse tranquillamente e felicemente componendo per la piccola corte di Buckeburg e, infine, Johann Christian, il figlio più giovane e più distante dallo stile del padre e dei fratelli maggiori, che compose in stile galante prediligendo le belle melodie allo stile contrappuntistico.
L'obiettivo di 12.000 euro di questa campagna servirà unicamente a coprire le spese della registrazione discografica.
In particolare l'affitto di una sala di registrazione con un’ottima acustica per 5 giorni, il lavoro del fonico di ripresa audio, il lavoro del direttore artistico per l'ascolto e la selezione dei take, il montaggio, la postproduzione, l'affitto di un clavicembalo, nonché le spese di viaggio ed alloggio dei 15 musicisti dell’orchestra, del fonico e del direttore artistico.
Ogni centesimo della somma raccolta in questa campagna verrà speso per la realizzazione di questo progetto, il tutto con il solo intento di realizzare un prodotto di eccellente qualità sonora ed artistica.
Nel caso non fosse raggiunta la somma finale di 12 mila euro, il denaro raccolto verrà in ogni caso depositato sul conto corrente della associazione culturale no profit Orchestra Controcorrente, e verrà utilizzato per portare a termine la realizzazione di questo progetto.
In questa eventualità ci impegneremo con tutte le nostre forze a trovare le rimanenti risorse necessarie.
Con il vostro contributo non sosterrete solo una incisione discografica ma supporterete i primi passi di una realtà musicale unica, investendo nel suo potenziale, nell’entusiasmo e nell’energia di un progetto creativamente coraggioso!

Orchestra Controcorrente is a classical orchestra on period instruments: a new musical reality, an original project born out of the meeting of excellent young musicians and friends who share mutual respect and years of intense professional activity playing on period instruments with the most prestigious ensembles specialised in early music. We are motivated by a lively spirit of enquiry, a visionary and creative approach and the desire to build a musical dream, a new way of making music.
20 musicians from six different countries (Italy, Russia, Mexico, England, Germany and Switzerland) join to form a classical orchestra without conductor, which is completely independent and self-governing regarding repertoire choices and musical collaborations and is based on the work of every single musician, who acts not only a player but as an important contributor in every step of the musical project.
The path which Controcorrente has undertaken is inspired by an “ancient vision”, as a vivid wish to make each musician fully responsible for their role within the ensemble in order to stimulate the individuality of each one of us and to make interpretative research a creative moment to be shared among us.
Our ideal challenge as members of Controcorrente is to aim for the figure of the “complete musician”, which the ancient world was so fond of.
« Bach Sons » is our recording debut and is also the first project that marked our journey as an orchestra. The repertoire for this CD represents a crucial starting point, both stylistically and musically, for an orchestra that evolves out of the baroque world in order to address classical repertoire conscientiously: it represents a journey through the birth and the evolution of the symphony in Germany between 1745 and 1770, during the «Sturm und Drang» era.
We take this opportunity to compare the different musical styles of the four most famous sons of J.S.Bach: Wilhelm Friedemann, his beloved firstborn, considered by his contemporaries as the most virtuosic organist of the time; Carl Philipp Emanuel, a marvellous composer, keyboard player and the best example of the “Empfindsamer Stil”, deeply loved by Haydn, Mozart e Beethoven; Johann Christoph Friedrich, a virtuoso pianist who lived peacefully composing for the small court of Buckeberg and finally Johann Christian, the youngest son and most removed his father’s style, an eminent composer of the galant style who preferred beautiful melodies to counterpoint.
This campaign's € 12,000 goal will only cover the expenses of the recording, in particular the rent of a recording room with an excellent acoustic for 5 days, the work of the audio recording engineer, the work of the artistic director for the listening and the selection of the takes, editing, post-production, the rent of an harpsichord, as well as the travel and accommodation expenses for the 15 musicians involved in this project, the sound engineer and the artistic director.
Every euro of the sum collected in this campaign will be spent on the realization of this project, with the sole intention of creating a product of excellent sound and artistic quality.
If the final sum of 12 thousand euros is not reached, the money collected will in any case be deposited in the current account of the non-profit cultural association Orchestra Controcorrente, and will be used to complete the realization of this project. In this case we will work hard to find the remaining necessary resources.
With your contribution you will support not only a great recording but the first steps of a unique music path. You will be investing in an idea, in its potential and energy and in the enthusiasm which can only be generated by projects animated by “creatively courageous” ideas!
