Rome Rescue Mission Short $40,000 of Annual Fundraising Goal.
ROME, NY - The Rome Rescue Mission needs your help to bring Christmas and vital services throughout the year to hundreds who would otherwise be hungry and alone. Officials report that the mission is $40,000 short of the $150,000 needed to serve the children, families, men and women of our community.
Donations can be made at online at romemission.org. Checks can be mailed to PO box 337, Rome NY 13440 or in person Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9a.m. to 2 p.m. at 413 East Dominick Street, Rome.
Last year, the Rome Rescue Mission fed more than 350 people at its Christmas Celebration meal and distributed more than 250 meals to the poor and homeless. Through the Mission, many area children were able to have a Christmas with a meal and a present. “It’s not just the homeless who will join us for Christmas dinner. We’ll see people who are just struggling to get by. There will always be people in our community who are hungry. Our doors are open to everyone, all year and the monetary donations that are raised during the holiday season cover much of the following years’ operating expenses” says Matt Miller, Executive Director of the Rome Rescue Mission. “We want to thank the community for the incredible amount of in-kind donations that have been received this season.”
The Rome Rescue Mission is a Christian organization committed to assisting the least, the last, and the lost. Many come to their doors seeking a warm meal, a loving environment, and a hope for a brighter future.
The Rome Rescue Mission serves over 200 meals per day and has an 18-bed shelter for women and children. They provide a means of hope by giving shelter to the homeless, feeding the poor, inspiring lifelong learning, and encouraging a personal relationship with God to everyone who is served.
