The Oncology Center of Central Baltimore's motto is to "never give up" on beating cancer -- and, as patients, families of patients and friends, we know the Oncology Center never gives up on us.
Now the center needs our support to continue its vital work in the community of central Baltimore.
But why a GoFundMe for a cancer care center?
Did you know that independent and small practices all over the nation are being forced to close their doors or merge with hospitals because the cost of doing business is significantly higher for private practices than for hospitals? Yet the cost to the medical system -- and, in the end, YOU -- is less when you are treated at these very same practices.
The Oncology Center of Central Baltimore has been fighting back for several years now to continue serving the patients of this community, despite these very issues.
Your $5, $10, $25 donation or more directly funds patient care, including chemotherapy, medications, supplies -- not salaries, personnel or physicians.
The Oncology Center needs our support to continue its tireless dedication to the coordinated and compassionate care that patients know is unique to the treatment of cancer, and in a location that is losing its options for cancer treatment.
A place where every patient is treated with the same dignity, compassion and respect -- regardless of any patient’s ability to pay.
Because the Oncology Center of Central Baltimore has consistently found innovative ways to successfully fund treatment, no patient has ever been turned away for financial reasons, nor has any patient ever received a collections notice.
But innovative funding alone can no longer cover the increasing costs of treatment.
Cutting edge cancer treatments. Research and training. High caliber care and support for all patients and families when life becomes a series of unknowns and vulnerability is high, in a neighborhood that is losing its options for care. That's the Oncology Center of Central Baltimore.
For over 17 years, the Oncology Center has provided cancer care to patients in central Baltimore using state of the art treatments and standards of care. Its commitment to a coordinated and compassionate approach is a benchmark in the care of cancer.
The Center also serves the community by training new doctors, conducting cancer research, and provides support through education and fundraising, such as the Leukemia and Lymphomia Society (LLS) and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. And during holidays and March Madness, it can be a place of smiles and laughter.
As one of the last remaining cancer centers in central Baltimore, the Oncology Center has served a very important role in treating the people of this community. And now that role is vital with the recent ending of chemotherapy administration in other sites central to the area.
