Once in a lifetime experience to Summit Florida

In September 2018 Kent Cheer Academy’s head coach Catherine decided to put a travel team together of 20 athletes to go and compete in Düsseldorf Germany. She wanted the children to experience a competition in Europe. Little did we know what would happen after!
On the 1st of December it was competition day! The athletes had only 8 weeks to learn and perfect their routine and be ready to take it to the floor.
When the award ceremony came round we were hoping to be placed top 3... But we weren’t, we were 1st place and the first English team to win in 20 years and beat EVERY team on points from level 1-5 (147 teams in total!) We were beyond proud of every single one of the athletes; the dedication these girls and their parents had shown to make sure they were at every practice was amazing.
We left the event and took the kids to have a celebratory meal! And as a joke the parents were chatting saying imagine if we won the bid to compete in Disneyland Florida at the largest cheerleading competition in the world - Varsity Summit.
We decided to live stream the results, as we walked into the hotel we all huddled together to listen to the results. The Summit paid bid goes to... KENT CHEER ACADEMY!!!! Everyone was in total shock and in tears!
We are overjoyed at the prospect of travelling to Florida to compete in a World Competition but to ensure all our athletes and families can go on this ‘once in a life time’ trip, we need to raise some extra funds to keep this dream alive.
The extra funds will help pay for flights and accommodation for those families wishing to support their children and to those children who are not able to compete due to stringent competition rules on age. We were heartbroken to discover 6 of the athletes are too young to compete in Florida, but we are hoping they will still be able to take part in the trip as our biggest supporters!
