The mission behind onbikes has always been a simple yet powerful one: “every kid deserves a bike.”
When they are tired and want to put off a task until “tomorrow”… when they are short one volunteer and have to pull double-duty during an event… or when they are organizing hundreds of volunteers to assemble hundreds of bicycles...
No matter how difficult the challenge, onbikes is able to return to their “why” and find the energy to push through…why? Because every kid deserves a bike.
But it doesn’t just stop there… onbikes is also branching out into the community by supporting health through wellness and adventure.
That’s why onbikes is lending their support to help me cross this incredible adventure off my bucket list.
This Spring I will be riding my bike from San Diego, CA to St. Augustine, FL (March 5th – April 25th).
Since meeting the incredible people behind onbikes, a nonprofit organization that raises money to purchase bikes and helmets for at-risk and foster children, I have found a new way to make a difference in the lives of children in our community.
I will be pedaling my bike 3000 miles over the next two months in hopes of raising $3000 for onbikes (actually I’d like to raise $10,000).
Through my initial experience bringing happiness to kids in my own community working through a local theatre, I discovered first hand how incredibly small acts can bring comfort, security, and a sense of belonging into the life of a child. Things we can take for granted as we get older.
All this makes my journey and onbikes a perfect fit for a joint effort to raise money so children throughout the community can experience what it’s like to enjoy the freedom and joy a bike can bring.
