Photo Supplies for Inner-City Youth

Hello there! My name is Mr. Shipley, and I am a media artist and educator based in Los Angeles, CA.  I currently teach at a public high school in downtown LA and my students hail from every corner of the city. I work with over 250 ethnically diverse 9th-12th graders each year, all of whom have a passion for the visual arts, but many of whom are predominantly low income and unable to purchase their own art supplies.

In my Digital Imaging, Photography 1, Photography 2, and AP 2D Design courses, students are taught traditional 35mm photography techniques. Although we have cameras and access to darkroom facilities year round, my school lacks funding to buy the consumable supplies necessary to support the photography program.

With the money I raise, I will buy the photo paper, 35mm film, film sleeves, and developing chemicals needed to teach traditional photography techniques to my students this school year.
