Oak Hills Robotics - Scotbot4284

The Oak Hills Robotics Team is a class of bright students looking to better their knowledge of mechanics, engineering, science, and cooperation. Each school year we work towards the construction of a drivable robot for the Robotics competition in April. Along with the ultimate goal of a drivable robot to compete with, we also do many side projects throughout the year in order to be involved in the Oak Hills community. The entrance fee for the competition is $5,000 on it's own, without the construction of the robot, the parts we need for it, and the community projects that we work on. Unfortunately, we do not recieve any funding from the school for our team. So that means we have to raise upwards of $10,000 to be able to compete with a proper robot, and have leftover money to better the community.
Our team:
* Knowledgeable students eager to learn engineering principles
* Dedicated workers that solve complex problems with the use of logic and critical thinking
* Learners who work to fix advanced electrical, mechanical, and software problems
Our teacher/coach:
* Mr. Boles is a former chemical engineer
* Teaches three engineering courses at Oak Hills High School
ScotBot takes pride in our work with the school and community as a whole. We are often looking for ways to further the group and better our students with projects and activities involving our community.
* Constructed support table for Cerebral Palsy student: see the news coverage here.
* Repaired/refurbished equipment, desks, computers, 3D printers for various students and staff around school.
* Provide services and demos at elementary enrichment days, technology-based community engagements (Oakdale, Springmyer, Delshire, C.O. Harrison, Dulles, Green Twp Library)
HOW WE SPEND OUR FUNDS
> Queen City Regional (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Entry Fee = $5,000
> Buckeye Regional (Cleveland, Ohio)
Entry Fee = $4,000
> 2016 Season Robot Parts, Supplies, and Construction Costs = $5,500
> Transportation and Hotel Fees
Cleveland Hotel Costs - $4,800
Bus and Trailer Charter - $4,000
TOTAL: $23,300
Impact on the Team
* With a generous donation like yours, our team would have the financial means to build an advanced robot, while building our knowledge.
* We would be better able to compete in other regionals and competitions
* Our robot would perform better, which would give us a better standing in the community
* 33 students who are passionate about engineering would get to travel to and experience two regional competitions
Impact on the Community
* Enable us to undertake more community outreach projects
* We can reach even more elementary and middle school students by starting a FIRST Lego League team.
* Our name would spread beyond the Queen City Regional and into more parts of the nation
