Ognibene/Maloney Family House Fire

On Tuesday night, October 10th, electrical causes started a fire in Beth Ognibene and Steve Maloney's home in Niskayuna, NY. Thankfully, the whole family was lucky enough to get out of the house quickly and safely, but the whole home and everything in it is destroyed.
They have two sons who have grown up in this home, and have lived there for over twenty years. Anyone who knows Beth and Steve knows how deeply rooted in the Niskayuna community they are, and how much they have given back to it in countless ways. Steve recently retired from teaching for Schenectady Schools, where he taught special education for 30 years and coached high school lacrosse. Beth is a recruiter for Schenectady ARC.
This is going to be a long and arduous process of rebuilding their home , so as a first step, I thought it was best to get a GoFundMe started so that those of you who are looking to help this extraordinary family can take action to do so.
Any support that you are able to offer will go far and be much appreciated in helping them to get on their feet again during this difficult time. All money will go directly to Beth and Steve.
I have known Beth for over 45 years. I grew up in Niskayuna, less than a mile from this home. I now live in Asheville, NC but stay in contact frequently with Beth and Steve. They are among our very closest friends. Beth is the person many of us call when we need something. She is always there for everyone, especially her family. She is also known for comic relief, always seeing situations in their best light. Today, I am hoping we all can be there for her and her family. Money will help get the basic necessities one needs after a fire...clothing, shoes, jackets....and yes, wine. :) Honestly, they need to buy everything. They are starting over and today spent much of their day in Target purchasing shoes, boots, work clothing, underwear, socks, toiletries...the essentials. Thank you for your donations.
