What's the future of Skippy0330?

Well, I’m looking forward to A17, the bug fixes that will be coming (they’ve been concentrating on these, as well as expanding the team by quite a bit!) And hopefully, a renewed vigor for the game from both players and creators.  I absolutely love the concept of A16, but it’s truthfully been a really rough go, especially on the multiplayer side, which is what I really enjoy. For those stll here, cheers, you hardcore mother fuckers!

As you know, I do cross platform content, I have no immediate plans to discontinue either pc or console content at this point.  I enjoy doing both because console offers me an environment where i can load up the game play, shut down and that’s it, it’s reliable!  PC content draws me in as well because I can Modify the game (Settler’s Mod) and enjoy a larger multiplayer experience, however frustrating it’s been lately. Plus, 4k kicks ass.  I do play console in 4k as well on my monitor, it looks great! I love bringing 4k content to my viewers, but I don’t have a 4k capture card for console yet. Elgato finally is releasing one that is in reach, but still at a jaw dropping 499.95 CAD pre order! 4k content for my console fans somewhere in the near future?

In the past few months, I’ve been quiet on the streamside, but it’s because I’m working hard! I’ve been spending 12 hour days working on my brand alone!

This includes self improvement, and lots of it.  Spending my earnings on educating myself to do things I only dreamed about in high school.   I lost that dream when I gave into the daily grind. Thanks youtube, and thanks you guys for making this possible.

If you’ve noticed in my latest videos, I’ve been learning how to do stuff such as custom titles and 1/3rds. Along with cinematics.   I don’t know if you’ve caught my city skylines footage, but I had a blast making it.   This was practice for me, and actually did better than i thought it would, if you’re enjoying that series, it’s moving to my second channel! I’ll comment on the last video on this channel (ep 6).

That brings up my next subject and it’s my hobby channel, skippy0330 Create (formally thrive)   I’ve done a few side games on there that do not fit in this niche at all, If you’re the type of viewer that likes what they saw, that’s a channel you want to check out.

I’d love to bring more content to this channel, but it’s gotta stay within the niches. I was thinking about covering rust. Apparently they are getting a building update in december!

Youtube has changed.   After a lot of research and consulting, it's been observed that your videos are promoted based on how much they get clicked on by subs.  Youtube is leaning towards a trending only based algorithm.   7 days is at its slowest point ever in trending, along with the fact we have new releases for christmas, and people generally don’t watch much youtube during this time.     We can’t have channels that cross niches anymore, non clicks kill the next video that comes out. This is why we are seeing a lot of channels drop, along with financial challenges.   I don’t mind eating rice to do what I love.

You’ve probably noticed a drop in views on my videos.  A few have voiced concern over this. It’s not a problem yet, my channel is at par with views from last year at this time, it’s just spread out over many videos instead of a trending few (I had about 5 trending videos this time last year)    It just means I may miss out on the extra bonus christmas cpm, which is ok, this is how business works I like to adapt on the fly.   The only time this may be a problem is in january.  But at this time last year (when ad revenue tanks). But the good news is, I learned from last year, and went to a streaming / video model. Which is what I’ll do this year, expect me to be very active on twitch and youtube both during that time. It's a great time to catch up with people, no one is busy and everything is chill.

The next step in my channel, you’ve probably noticed is Skippy3 productions. I plan on spreading out over time (years) over different channels and using that as my brand overhead.  I can dream can’t I, maybe a couple employees, maybe a few co content creators.

Last year at this time, I had a dream, that was to be able to even do 4k content. We made that happen! I have a kick ass gaming rig that’ll last me easy a few years with minimal upgrades.   Now it's time to do the grind to what i originally had envisioned and that was cinematic let's plays for 7 days. Why waste all that cool footage i could get of building something with a third person camera.    There is so much i could do. (cities was practice for getting a eye for camera work)

The rest of my studio is going to cost only about another 6k, I’ve already invested throughout the year, about 10k into it. I’m so close to awesome videos I can taste it, I even made all my assets, all my templates and my workflow for doing it, I just need to jump that last hurdle.

I don’t know if you guys have watched Neebs gaming, but I LOVE how they do cinematic lp. I’ve recently stumbled upon it, and it's brought back that tingle in my tip to improve myself again.   I love doing videos but the standard lp is getting boring to be honest, I’ll do them for sure, but I’m finding myself wanting more.    I wouldn’t copy neeb’s style, I have my own, but they are a perfect example of what I want to offer you guys.

This has been a subject I’ve struggled with bringing up or even doing. After talking to a lot of my fans, i feel comfortable bringing it forward because I don’t really push donations/tips while doing streaming, I may as well offer something solid you guys can see, and then enjoy after.   I’ve started a gofundme for half of the cost of the rest of my studio! I think we can lower or raise it if need be.  I can scrimp and save and buy parts as they go on sale, than use the gofundme to finish it off when it’s over (if we reach the goal)

I’ve always felt this is a selfish approach to funding yourself, Nothing against people that do, I envy them, people are the greatest resource.    So this is basically me coming out and saying, I could use some help guys.    BUT I don't want to leave you empty handed. Say this actually happens and I get my second rig and rest of my equipment, I’m a happy fucking guy, in turn, i’ll not run ads on my newly released videos for a week.  A Little give and take goes a long way I think.  Anyway, i'll pin a comment with the link in it, if you’re interested.   This will eventually happen no matter what happens, because I want to do it.   Your help could make us realize this a lot sooner, and very, very much appreciated.

I know not everyone is in the place that can contribute that way, and never feel obligated to. I wasn’t able to before I started youtube!  Your views and loyalty and likes and interaction far outbalance any financial contribution. You can’t pay your way up the youtube ladder!

To explain more, I want to purchase a system I know will be reliable and last me at least 3 years before looking at more investment.   Sometimes this costs a lot!  The gofundme will have all the details of each item i need and where i’m getting it.   Any help with letting me know if stuff goes on sale (in canada) that's on the list would be great! That’s how i bought my last, saved about 600 on the whole build!

Anyway, you guys are fucking awesome, it’s been a fun ride, and I look forward to years more.    Alpha 17 should be a blast, looking forward to stability and bicycles.  Things should pick up again for us content creators, I’m excited to learn more, and offer more to you, the viewer. All in all, I think 2018 is going to be a great year.  Can’t wait to do another killler charity stream come alpha 17, we raised 4k last year.   Be classy guys, back up your life saves, and stay real.
