March for Science - Bristol
22 April 2017, 11am, Millennium Square
On 22nd April (Earth Day) Bristol's supporters of science will take to the streets to add their weight to a worldwide movement of marches taking place that day in celebration of the vital role scientific evidence plays in everyday life.
Organised in association with the At-Bristol Science Centre, the event will start with a rally at Millennium Square featuring keynote speakers Chris Packham, Prof. Bruce Hood, Anna Starkey, Dr Simon Singh and Dr Suzi Gage and various fun scientific stalls and entertainment for the family. The rally will be followed by a two mile march through the city, looping back to Millennium Square.
Although everyone involved in organising and supporting the march is giving their time and skills for free, there are essential costs of the march that must be covered. This GoFundMe page will act as an open place for both Crowd Funding and Official Donations that we are expecting from local Bristol science-associated businesses.
Costs include:
PA, Tech Equipment, Staging and Safety Barriers
Specialist Staff for Safety and Tech
First Aid Support
Public Liability Insurance
Clean Up Costs
High Visibility Tabards for Stewards
Poster and Badge Printing
Should any money be left over we intend to donate it to the At-Bristol Science Centre, who despite being a charity have given us the space to hold the event, use of their Big Screen and countless hours of staff time and support completely free of charge. This event would not be possible without them.
Please donate using the secure form.
