Please join the DeLand Police Department in supporting Dino Procos’ fight for his life!

DeLand Police Officer Constantine "Dino" Procos is a 6 year veteran and active Training Officer. Dino was born in 1959 in South Africa. During his 32 years in Africa, Dino was a part of the South African Military. It was his time in the military where Dino discovered his love for skydiving. This love brought Dino to the United States where he became a full time skydiving instructor. His passion for helping and teaching others remained true when he answered his call to duty as an officer in 2011. Dino brought a unique set of skills into the department and took an eager approach to training and preparing our new officers for working on their own. Dino remains passionate about serving his community and his department. Throughout his life Dino has been passionate about physical fitness and taking an active role in the Cross-Fit community. In December of 2016, Dino began to notice during his Cross-Fit workouts that he was quickly becoming out of breath in exercises that he could easily perform before. Dino was initially diagnosed with Pneumonia but after six weeks of treatment, Dino showed no signs of improvement. Following a cat-scan of his chest, Dino was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, an incurable lung disease in which the lungs begin to solidify. In March of 2017, just three months after initial symptoms, Dino was re-hospitalized for 26 days. Dino was transferred to the Mayo hospital where it was determined that Dino had an aggressive form of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and was given a life expectancy of six to twelve months if he did not receive a double lung transplant.

This GoFundMe is being created by Dino’s family, friends, and his second family at the DeLand Police Department to help with the financial cost of Dino’s medical procedure. In order to receive the double lung transplant, Dino will need to relocate to Jacksonville for three months and receive twenty-four hour care which will not be covered by insurance. After the procedure, Dino will remain on medication for the rest of his life.
