Friday afternoon July 14th an esteemed and loved member of our Saint Johns County Sherriff's office Anthony DeLeo was in a horrendous accident on his way to a call. He has a long road to recovery. He is dealing with a broken radius which has a plate and 8 screws and very extensive leg injury. Tony had surgery to repair his femoral artery but due to a really bad nerve damage he may not regain use of his leg. Please help Michelle and her family to take the stress off them with costs since her and Tony are not able to work at this time.

From Michelle:
Tomorrow will be 5 days post op and the Doctors will come in and take the the wound vacs off and dressings, if all looks good he will be discharged. Medically he seems to be doing good. Now the road to physical recovery begins. While he really probably should go back to Brooks he is anxious to go home. So we will leave with a walker, a wheelchair, a bath seat and a step for the bed and have an aide, a nurse and a physical therapist at the house for care. So although eliminating the daily trips to hospital will be welcomed we will have a lot of things going on at home! He stills faces more surgery but not sure right now when that will be. It is going to be a long road of a lot of therapy and lots of Doctor appointments but he is determined to get back to as normal as he can as soon as possible. Again we want to thank everyone so much for all the continued prayers, support, love, donations and food.

Yesterday was a really bad day for Tony. His blood pressure is really low so when they got him up for PT he was ash color and passing out. He had to get a ultrasound of his liver because his enzymes were off but it turns out he has a little bit of a fatty liver and gallstone. His hemoglobin is still very low so he was getting 2 more units and his white count is up so they are watching that. He is so weak he can barely open his eyes. He was better today than yesterday, the transfusions helped. Hemoglobin is still low so we will see tomorrow if it went up. White cells are up so they started him on an antibiotic and have infectious disease coming in for consult tomorrow. They were able to do some PT and OT but blood pressure went up so he is exhausted now.

Tony's trauma team drs were in to see him today for wound care but they are not ready for surgery to close yet so they don't want him laying stiff in the bed because that would make things even worse. Transferring him to Brooks today and He will stay there until the first week in August and then come back to shands for surgery to do grafting and stay for a week then back to brooks for probably another 2-3 weeks and then back to shands for more surgery then either brooks or home for therapy and then probably around November for ligament repairs in his knee. He has a long road ahead and is in a lot of pain. There is still a 40% chance that he may lose his leg. Please keep them in your prayers and keep sharing this because they need all the help they can get.
