Ofc. Dennis Godfrey Recovery FOP530

Donation protected
During the extraordinary response by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to assist the community of Jacksonville during Hurricane Matthew, Officer Dennis Godfrey suffered what was thought to be a relatively minor laceration to his leg.  Over a very short period of time the laceration showed signs of infection and his health deteriorated rapidly.  Despite efforts to heal the wound, Ofc. Godfrey was hospitalized and his condition was quickly considered life-threatening.   After another short period of time passed the decision was made to remove the leg with the infection in order to save his life.  While his health has improved somewhat since that surgery he is not out of the woods yet and will likely be fighting the effects of this infection for the remainder of his life.

This warrior of almost 20 years for the Jacksonville community is now in need of your assistance.  The Fraternal Order of Police 5-30 is humbly asking for your assistance on behalf of our Brother and his family.  We believe that $50,000 is only the tip of the iceberg and a modest sum to help meet his immediate needs.  Please contribute to help our Brother in need as he continues to fight for his life and to be properly compensated for going above and beyond to help his community in its time of need.

Dennis' wife Shari Lawhun has been made the benificiary of this GoFundMe account and will receive the withdrawls on his behalf.
