Philippe et Moi avons débuter notre partenariat en Juillet 2014, à l'occasion des championnats du monde universitaire à Cordoba, en Espagne. Depuis ce temps, nous avons été en mesure de gravir les échelons du classement canadien, afin de terminé la saison 2016-2017 au premier rang.
Durant les 3 dernières années, nous avons eu la chance de représenter le Québec et le Canada lors de plusieurs compétitions nationales et internationales. En effet, nous avons participer 2 fois au championnats du monde universitaire (Espagne en 2014 et Russie en 2016) en plus d'être sélectionner au sein de la délégation canadienne pour les Universiades à Gwangju, en Corée du Sud en 2015.
La saison 2015-2016 fût très spéciale pour nous. Notre 2e position au classement canadien ainsi que nos bonnes performances sur le circuit national nous a permis de participer à plusieurs compétitions par équipe sur la scène internationale, dont la sélection panaméricaines pour la Thomas Cup en février 2016, où le Canada a terminé en deuxième position, puis aux Championnats panaméricains au Brésil, en avril de la même année. Lors de cette dernière compétition, Philippe et moi avons grandement contribué au succès de l'équipe en remportant nos 4 parties, dont un match décisif lors de la finale par équipe, ce qui a permis au Canada de remporter son 9e titre panaméricain consécutif.
En Juillet 2016, nous avons atteint le sommet du classement canadien pour la première fois. Nos résultats de l'année précédente et ce nouveau classement nous permettaient donc d'aspirer aux plus hauts sommets, soit de participer aux championnats du monde par équipe en mai 2017 (Sudirman Cup) ainsi qu'aux Jeux du Commonwealth en 2018. Nous avons donc multiplié le nombre de compétitions auxquelles nous avons participées et avons encore une fois été sélectionnés pour les championnats panaméricains, qui se déroulaient en République Dominicaine. Grâce à nos victoires et celles de nos coéquipiers, nous avons été en mesure de conserver notre titre de champions panaméricains et d'aider le Canada à remporter un 10e titre consécutif.
Les points accumulés au classement et la notoriété que nous avons acquise lors de ces différentes compétitions font en sorte que nous avons été en mesure de nous tailler une place sur l'équipe nationale à plusieurs reprises. Après avoir refusé l'invitation de Badminton Canada à participer au volet individuel des championnats panaméricains à Cuba par soucis d'économie d'argent, nous avons reçu un courriel qui justifiaient les efforts, le temps et les dépenses que nous avons du encourir depuis les 3 dernières années. Nous avons reçu l'invitation officielle à participer aux Championnats du monde par équipe, qui se dérouleront cette année à Gold Coast en Australie, du 21 au 28 Mai prochain. Une bonne performance lors de cette compétition feraient en sorte d'augmenter nos chances de faire partie de la délégation canadienne lors des jeux du Commonwealth en 2018.
Les subventions dans le sport que nous pratiquons sont très difficiles à obtenir et l'accès à des bourses sportives est limitée. Le montant amassé lors de cette campagne nous permettraient donc de couvrir les dépenses reliées à la participation à cette compétition (Vol, Hôtel, nourriture) et de continuer à représenter la province et le pays durant les années à venir.

Phil and I started our partnership in July 2014 at the World University Championship in Cordoba, Spain. Since then, we reached a step further every year until this year where we finished the 2016-2017 season in first place of the national ranking.
Since the last 3 years, we represented Quebec and Canada for a lot of national and international tournaments. We made it twice to the World University Championship (Spain 2014 and Russia 2016) and we had the chance of being selected for the University Games in Gwangju, South Korea in 2015.
The 2015-2016 season has been very special to us. We reached the second place of the national ranking, giving us the chance to play in some team events for Canada. We played at the Thomas Cup in February 2016 for the Pan Am qualification where Canada finished in 2nd place. Also, we played the team event at the Pan Am Championship in Brazil, where we contributed, more than we thought we would, by winning all of our matches during the tournament. We were very proud of ourselves, especially in the final where we played one of our best match ever to give Canada a chance at winning the gold medal after tying the game 2-2. Canada finally won gold for the 9th times in a row.
In July 2016, we reached the highest national ranking of our career. Then, we started to hope for a chance to play at the biggest tournaments at the international level, the Sudirman Cup in May 2017 and the Commonwealth Games in 2018. Afterwards, we have been selected for the team event at the Pan Am Championship in Dominican Republic where we helped Canada in many ways to win gold again for the 10th times in a row.
After representing Canada for several tournaments, we had to decline Badminton Canada’s offer to represent Canada one more time this year at the Individual Pan Am Championship in Cuba since we can’t afford every international tournament. However, 2 weeks after, we got invited to the Sudirman Cup in Gold Coast, Australia. The tournament is held from May 21st to 28th and with a good performance in Australia, we could help ourselves get another invitation this time for the Commonwealth Games in 2018.
Funding in our sport is a very difficult thing to get, that is why we are planning to take the money raised with this campaign to help us pay for all our fees for the Sudirman Cup (plane, hotel, food) and to pursue our goal and keep representing Quebec and Canada for the years to come.
