My name is Lisa Stowe. I am asking for help for my husband, Clyde Stowe, with his medical expenses. Clyde was diagnosed with 3rd stage chronic lymphocytic leukemia in January 2011. CLL is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It effects your lympnodes and your spleen and causes fatigue. The treatments lower his white blood count and then he is more prone to infections. CLL is not curable. Clyde will always have some type of treatment. Clyde has had three cycles of 6 month treatments plus one every 8 weeks for maintenance. Several times now his white blood count has spiked up and he has to have treatment every 3 weeks. This happened recently and he has to do 2 treatments in March. With treatments this often, he misses many days of work. On his third day of treatment they give him an immune booster shot. For several days after the shot he has bone ache and flu-like symptoms.
Clyde is a hard worker. He enjoys his job as a meat cutter at Conners Supermarket. It is a struggle sometimes because of the effects from treatment, like fatigue and pain. We are so thankful for our employers, the Conner family, and our community for the support they have given us.
Clyde is a very caring and giving person. He has been a volunteer fireman for 35 years. He's always taken care of his parents. His father had Alzheimer's for 5 years and his mother needs extra care since he has passed.
Clyde's treatments are very expensive. He takes treatments at Virginia Onocology, OBX Hospital and he gets CT scans periodically. These are all very expensive. Any help would be appreciated more then you know.
